ramblinman
Got a buddy doing a big business trip to Japan, Thailand, and maybe Singapore. We're both into whiskey and he's going to make a few trips to the stores to see if he could find some of the export only bourbons and would pick up a bottle me as well. The one we're wanted to get most if Blantons Straight From the Barrel, and seems like availability shouldn't be too much trouble there. Is there anything else he should keep an eye out for?
petrel800
Look at 4 Roses web site they have several exports not available in the States. I also see SmokinJoe reference the Jack Daniels Silver Select as something worth trying if it can be found internationally.
393foureyedfox
with all the BT shortages these days, is Blantons SFTB still easily attainable overseas?
DogfaceSoldier
I didn't find much bourbon in Afghanistan. Wouldn't recommend looking there.
bjbronwyn
Japan has WT offerings . the 8yr 101, the 12yr and 13 yr bourbons. Not sure if they are duty free or in shops over there. They are on the WT site. The other place to look before you go could we worldwidewhiskies.com as they are based in Japan (I believe). Their prices are for collectors and quite expensive, but they might have adequate photos of Japanese only imports ect..
elmossle
Have him pick up as many 4R Platinum as he can bring back. Some of the best stuff I have open at the moment.
risenc
While I don't recommend drinking it, Jim Beam Small Batch With Port is popular around SE Asia, especially in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore (I bought a bottle at the duty free in Changi Airport). Mind you, it's not finished in port barrels; it has port added to it, a la the Spanish brandy in last year's Signature Craft release. It is nasty -- though, obviously, lots of people feel otherwise (and for the record, I enjoyed the Spanish brandy release). Still, a fun novelty. But, yeah, otherwise, Four Roses. And IW Harper 12, which is only sold in Japan. It's solid, and it comes in a beautiful decanter-style bottle.
