dSculptor
With all the threads going on about age ,and NAS, I thought this would be a good time to put out your favorite oldest bourbon, and favorite youngest bourbon. Mine would be EC20 (slightly edges out PVW20,however both vatted are extraordinary, but I dont think that counts) and Breckenridge, which I had tasted once and was very good at 2-3 yrs. old. clindt
My Favorite oldie is WLW, so its age varies a little. My favorite toddler is AA at 3 years. Both have a place on my bar.
petrel800
Saz 18 and ER 17 tend to be my favorite older rye/bourbons with a fixed age statement. Haven't found too may youngsters I enjoy, I guess I'd go with Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye. I find the style interesting and it's not trying to be something it's not. GaryT
On the bourbon side, favorite oldie would be a WLW; favorite youngster, Stagg Jr (I think around 7 yrs?) If I have to pick one with a firm age statement, FC103 6yr is probably it (narrowly cutting out EW BIB).On the rye side, favorite oldie is WFE 22 (Doug's, green ink, rye-gasam), favorite youngster is JEP NAS (believe it is 2 or 3 yrs old?) Or a smidge older would be WFER 4yr.
jwacky
Favorite oldie... I'll say Eagle Rare 17, or Stagg. Haven't cracked my PVW15 yet to form an opinion.Favorite young... I drink more Mellow Corn than anything else, old or young, expensive or cheap. If not that, then I'd go with any number of HH BiBs. Maybe Dant BiB? If I only drank that the rest of my life. Haven't found a whole lot under 4 years that I really enjoy all that much, at least not enough to consider a favorite.

Hard to beat in the summer.
black mamba
Favorite oldies are S-W Pappy 20 and Saz 18. Favorite youngster is RittBIB. Nothing else close at either end.

kjbeggs
PVW20, and I suppose Larceny, as an every-day younger pour.
Grain Belt
Older would be WT12 for me. Young Buck award would go to EWBIB
squire
EWW is young, well perhaps middle aged by today's standards, but man, the price.
risenc
Not to be a noodge, but what counts as old and what counts as young these days? I'm not saying they're drinkable, but there are scads of bourbons on the market now that are younger than two years, and even, for some reason, one year (though there are also some that highlight a distiller's promise for something older, like SA's Yearling). Compared to them, EWBIB is a fogey.
ramblinman
Tough question. So many on the older side that I enjoy a lot of the midrange stuff in the 6-10 range. I guess Weller12 is the oldest I regularly drink, edging out EC12. On the young end its really a toss up with any of the HH BiBs, probably Rittenhouse more than others, but I get it in 750s and EWBiB in family size so hard to tell

Compared to them, EWBIB is a fogey.Speaking as a genuine fogey I think this young stuff is a product searching for a market.

(my best oldest tasting is the PVW20) ,however I've had 21,other 20's,19,18,17,15,12, and so on.but have yet to open my PVW 23, so that may change......or not. squire
I've consumed countless brands and there is no one best. If I had a choice today my preference would be for the types that were distilled in the late 1950s and bottled in the mid 1960s at 6-8 years of age and between 86-100 proof. We don't have exact corollaries today but we do have some very good modern takes on the Bourbon theme.A dusty that occasionally crops up is Yellowstone Mellow Mash that was bottled at 7 years and 91 proof, this is what I'm talking about. PaulO
My favorite oldie is Old Fitz 12 year old or Weller 12. Not quite as old, Henry McKenna 10 year (great stuff). My favorite younger (4 years, maybe a little more) is any of the bonds from Heaven Hill.

Parkersback
My favorite younger (4 years, maybe a little more) is any of the bonds from Heaven Hill.As for the young stuff, I totally agree: those HH bonds are nice. For sentimental reasons, JTS Brown would be the pick (because of its placement in 'The Hustler') but I think HHBib or EWBib might be a bit better, though I don't know for sure, not having had much experience with them, esp. side by side.My favorite oldie rye is Saz18 or VWRye 13 (which was/is supposedly older). My favorite oldie bourbon is the late, great EC18 (when it could be had for $45)
Brisko
My favorite oldie is a rye, VWFRR (or Saz 18 some days) and my favorite youngster (as in, the youngest one I like consistently) is corn, Platte Valley to be exact, at 3 years. I prefer my bourbons between 6 and 9 years so I guess they don't really count as either. (although there are outliers, EC12, and EWW, for instance)
