I did send the TTB a complaint about this and got a response back on March 4th saying "We are currently reviewing the matter." And nothing since then. Uncle Bob's 70 proof flavored BIB whisky (ack - brain cells just exploded in protest of typing that!) is still listed on the TTB's website as approved.

If I ever get really motivated I might wander down to the PR part of the TTB offices and ask if I can speak to somebody about their "regulatory philosophy." IOW, is the COLA process solely concerned with label layout meaning the burden is STILL on the seller to comply with the "Straight" and class/type and BIB and additive and formula requirements at the time of sale regardless of what the "approved" label says? I'm missing something.

My 20 page essay on UBBIBRBFW70 shall be completed shortly (fact checking to avoid libel claims :shithappens: is chilling). I'll try to do a one-page executive summary so the moderators don't go crazy. In the meantime, I thought you'd like to know that the NDP Levecke makes, according to the third party website sourmashed.com, 4 Corners Whiskey, Bourbon Supreme, American Pride Rye Whiskey, and private labels and other kinds of spirits and exotic cordials. Indeed, is "rectifier" considered a nonperjorative term?

This is awesome.

Rectifier is not a perjorative, and is what they are. You might also use the term Non-Distiller Producer (NDP) which is in common use presently.

Edit to add: which term I now notice you used in your post :)

I don't think the term rectifier is pejorative in and of itself it's just that in years past some rectifiers have engaged in shady practices and slight of hand advertizing, in effect coloring the word darkly for anyone else who might want to enter into the liquor business.

I think NDP is a better, more modern term. Face it, rectifier does conjure up images of bathtub gin.

Well I mean you shouldn't, but they clearly can.

Sarcasm aside, are TTB employees hired for these roles or just rotated out from other govt entities? Seems if all you did was label approval, you should be sort of good at it. Yet here we are.
