KC back to cork yet?

I find the idea of Beam changing from cork, to screw cap, and back to cork (synthetic) really interesting to me. Particularly, if the story is correct, that it was in response to customer demand. That kind of change doesn't just happen on a dime, as they say. There had to be some consequences somewhere along the process. When you think about it ( and if true...), that's two good ones in a year for Beam...Listened to the customer on MM proof change, and on the KC closure...

Well, that's what got me wondering if they indeed change back over or were just blowing smoke. There must be alot involved in changing over machinery,especially when one see's the bottling line first hand.Here's a pic of the dumping station,mmm I can smell it now,one thing to mention if anyone is considering this tour and you are a KC fan,take along a plastic bag with you as they let you take as many of the spent bungs as you want,works real nice for smoking on the grill.Hell, it worked real good as an air freshener on the way home.He fills the glass that's sitting right next to him,right from the barrel,and passes it around but tells you, you can't drink it, what... they should bottle it this way ..unfiltered.

I thought someone should bring a large-mouthed (empty, open) water bottle, and "accidentally" spill the glass in the direction of said bottle. Oops

I like that idea of the spent bungs. I bought some barrel char from Barton a few years back, which they sell for the same purpose. Adds a lovely aroma when grilling. I wonder if just soaking some charcoal in bourbon would do the same thing?

I wouldn't think the charcoal would work as well as just soaking some hickory or oak in a lower shelf bourbon,or for that matter.. that just gave me an idea,how about just adding a drip pan off to the side with some bourbon in it. When I do a long smoke, I usually just put a pan of water on the bottom,but now I may have to try the bourbon thing instead.

Well, they are set up to handle it either way, my guess is the cork stopper sold better.

I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but the new KCSB is the ugliest damn bottle on the shelf. I'd think they would care more about first impressions on the shelves rather than what we think of the cap type after opening it.
