RWBadley
It's more rare to find a cache of older, interesting shelf stock these days, especially at what passes for a good deal.I found a hole in the wall local and couldn't resist. Not quite dusty, but getting there.Several bottles of OGD 114 in box from 2005 for $18 each.Several bottles of Beam Black 8yo from 2007 for $14each.Bought one of each first to check for QC. The OGD compared to new stock seemed dam near same-same. Amazing consistency. The Beam 8 is quite deelish. Flask, straight or blending fodder; a great deal.Have you found any not quite dusties lately? petrel800
I found a VOB 6 yr that was bottled around 2008 as best I can tell. Not quite a dusty, but interesting to compare since Barton was bought in 2008 by Sazerac. However, since the stuff was only 6 years old, up till this year, it's probably been mostly Constellation distilled whiskey up to this point unless they were busing over 6 year stuff from BT. squire
RW I think running across dustys is a matter of pure luck which makes the hunt more interesting.
RWBadley
When I find EWSB on sale for $22.99Score!They have some of the EWSB 1997 for about $27. I don't think this release was so highly regarded. Seems I tried some of it several years ago and it was just OK
qman22
Found a 2007 bottling of VSOF 12 year. I'm not sure how that one will compare with a current bottling, but I imagine it wont be much different.
PaulO
I can't recall exactly when they changed the label (a few years ago). Anyway, the other day I found a handle of Old Forester Signature with the older style label. Before that, I found a couple o 750ml in another store. Granted the bourbon seems the same in the newer bottles. It still feels like a score. Also I unexpectedly found Medley Bros. too, and got to try something new to me. clindt
I found some bottles of Old Charter 10 year and picked up a couple of them. I should have grabbed all 6 of them, but I had never tried it before.
smknjoe
Good call. Try it before you buy more. It's okay but nothing I would seek out.
