Thanks and the following was the best out of the bunch but I did not get a bottle at $81

  • Four Roses 2013 Limited Edition Small Batch, $81

Interesting list. Assuming the WFE 21 was at cask strength, I bet it was an interesting pour. I was lucky enough to get the 4RSB '13 at regular single barrel price due to a mix up by a less than scrupulous liquor store (I wasn't going to correct them, since they were charging above secondary/black market prices for the ORVW/PVW line).

Was there anything special about the Four Roses Secretariat bottling, besides the packaging? Mr. Rutledge was kind enough to autograph all the bottles at my local shop, but I haven't pulled the trigger on it since I was operating under the assumption that it was pretty much their standard bottling. I love 4RSB, but not at $35+ $65 for a bottle I don't much care about.

The Jeff Ocean II is $250? Is that right?! Lulz.

That price was for the original release.

The Secretariat Bottling was OBSV at 100 proof. The barrel was supposedly picked by Secretariat's owner, Rutledge and a few other parties. Basically you're getting "specially selected" 4RSB. Not dogging the release, I never tried it, but $100 for what did amount to the stuff on the shelf at $35-40, I passed. I've had some good store selection 4RSBs, so it would have had to been pretty spectacular to be worth $100. Bottle and packaging were pretty though.

Proceeds from the sale of these ~3,500 bottles went to the Secretariat Foundation and the Kentucky Derby Museum. It's a good standard OBSV, but if you don't care about the bottle or the charities then it's nothing special.
