I am enjoying a little KC SB to compensate for the return of winter to OH and what it did to our magnolia. Noticed that a recently purchased KC SB, like WT RR, is using the Single Barrel Small Batch designation. It looks like the old regular KC label with a black banner proclaiming Single Barrel slapped on.

Interesting, I've noticed the labels too. How do you feel about this bourbon? I have not had it yet. Does it compare nicely to anything out there Rare Breed or Stagg Jr.? It's Beam so does it compare to Booker's and Baker's (which I have not had). I've only seen it in one store for $47.00 ouch.

As a single barrel, it is subject to variability. I liked the one I had, but honestly prefer Bookers (which is virtually the same price in these parts, with higher proof and lower age). I got worried for a minute and thought they had dropped the age statement! I wonder why they went from the big 9 to the smaller print on that? Maybe the marketing folks are finding out that the age isn't driving sales as much as "Single Barrel" and "Reserve" (in terms of what buyers equate to quality or value). That could be bad news if true

I, too, prefer Booker's but in KY I can get KC SB in the mid $30s and Booker's in mid $40s. (In OH, Booker's is mid $50s.) For the price differential, I can force myself to drink KC SB. I'm down to my last two bottles of Booker's so must conserve.
