gte229h
Four Roses makes single barrel bourbons using 10 recipes. The recipes are either 20% rye or 35% rye in the mash bill, using one of 5 different yeast strains. These recipes are found in single barrel bourbons labeled as Private Selection. While the 35% rye recipe is bold in taste, I find it a bit too spicy. I like the 20% rye recipe and am looking for retailers that may have the Private Selection in stock, designated as OES + V/K/O/Q/F.I purchased the OESK (slightly spicy) and OESQ (milder, vanilla) at the distillery. Mink's on Delk Road has the OESV (creamy). Anyone have the OESO (fruity) or OESF (minty) available?O = Designates produced at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY.E = The mashbill that is 75% corn, 20% rye, 5% malted barley.B = The mashbill that is 60% corn, 35% rye, 5% malted barley.S = Designates straight whiskey distillation.V/K/O/Q/F = Yeast strain used to create flavor characteristics. HighInTheMtns
Welcome. Most of us know about the Four Roses recipes ... If you go over to the Bourbon Social forum you'll find a bunch of Atlanta locals who might be able to help you out. They're a friendly crowd, but watch out for the goat. Restaurant man
No O's or F's that I'm aware of. Do some google searches. There are a few retailers that will ship to ga but you'd have to get really lucky to find a retailer with those specific private barrels. Best bet is to road trip to the party source in Kentucky. Or better yet, keep on going up to the distillery. It's only 6 hours. Of course the FR gift shop is tapped right now. The next limited single barrel will be an F so look out for that one. GaryT
They had no bottles as of Thursday.Well that sucks :-( Thanks for the info!Ok - I didn't seriously expect every recipe, but was hoping for the Sampler they might have something there. On the bright side - might save me the drive over from Bardstown if they are dried up!
