jonhalter
It was 91 in Jax FL today. Cold bourbon is fantastic on days like today.
Guest
I keep GD12 in the freezer in summer, I mean how else would I get my whiskey fix in summer when the third day of 40 degrees celcius days hits? (100+ for most of you)I aint putting ice or soda in it, thats for sure, and on a hot day in a hot hand the whiskey doesnt stay 'frozen' for long, its a hard fight that only the strongest can win. EagleRiver
Didn't you take the tour? They had all the rickhouses converted into meat freezers. Jimmy doesn't taste them, he just punches the barrels like Rocky.Quote of the thread, lolI wondered why I heard Jimmy yell "Adrian!"
danz
I seem to remember hearing somewhere that a 90ish proof whiskey will freeze at around -30F. Maybe next winter I will have to test that. There were certainly days last winter I could have put that to the test.Edit: I consulted Google, and this is what I found: http://www.ehow.com/facts_7365307_freezing-point-80-proof-whiskey.htmlYep, here in MN and down in Iowa, it can certainly reach temps cold enough to freeze whiskey. I guess I'll have to make sure I take 100 proof or higher bourbon when I'm ice fishing!Be careful. Urban legend (well, maybe rural) says you can freeze your throat and asphyxiate trying to drink deep frozen whiskey.

mbroo5880i
I agree that HH BIB 6-Yr from the freezer or refrigerator tastes good. I also tried ER10 chilled while on the BT tour. It is an interesting experience comparing a chilled v. nonchilled version of the same whiskey. I love to share the experience with people who have had less experience with whiskey. jvd99
I've got a bottle of WTRB in the freezer. It comes out super thick and tick above freezing which masks the flavor a bit IMO. I kinda forgot about it over the winter - but it's a nice change of pace for the summer
squire
Would I drink frozen whisky? Sure. Like Oliver says, "may I please have another."

DBM
I keep Rittenhouse and OWA in the freezer for Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, respectively. Overall less dilution, and what ice I do use doesn't melt as quickly.I don't see a problem with chilling bourbon, it's no different than bourbon on the rocks. In fact is should be better because there's no dilution or water "contamination". Ice cubes are notorious for picking up funky flavors in the freezer.
