Ok, excuse my no obsess here, but I'm looking at 2 bottles online one says JE 50-4N the other bottle says BN 31-2L so by these codes how do you know which is which? I thought the bottle would just say OESO or OBSK?

Those are barrel locations. Meaningless to everyone except the really obsessive. But e em they would have to spend a lot of time roaming at Cox Creek before they could learn which rickhouses they like best.

Of the 10 I would seek out again the following:

OBSV

OBSK

OBSO

OBSF

OESO

OESF

I wish the "Fs" were more plentiful, they are a real favororite of mine. The other recipes not listed were either (to my taste and IMO) not enjoyable enough to purchase again or outgunned by the standard offerings. That said 2 that fall into that category include the only one that I don't like which is the OBSQ. Its nearly 13 yrs old and VERY woody and tannic. When I vat that one 50/50 with the OESV ( from my "OK but not great" list) both are elevated and the sum rivals any of my must haves.

I also cut these to 100p as the BP across the board is not my preference for neat drinking.

Yeti suggested elsewhere getting to know each recipe stand alone and in concert with others. I couldn't agree more. Should you find one not quite blowing you away you may get to that point combining it with another recipe. They are all of the highest quality and of the 10 there again was only 1 I didn't like but I would buy several if I could get an equal amount of those OESVs, damn fine combo.

This is based on my preferences and I've no idea what yours are. I am a fan of ALL the 4R standard offerings ( head and shoulders above anything else IMO), I also like WT 101 & RB, BT, EWB, 1792, Dickle, ETL, W12, (especially 50/50 with 4R YL) among others so that gives you some idea where I'm coming from. Have fun and enjoy the trip!!

I think OBSV is the top of the lot. There is a reason Jim used it for the standard Single Barrel release.

Following that, I really liked OBSK for its spice and OESO for its creaminess.

OBSF and OBSK have been my favorites. We selected a barrel of OBSO this time too.

And binnys will have more soon. We saw a number of barrels with their name on them packaged up and ready to ship.

I would go OBSV, OESO, OESQ, and OESK...I tend to prefer the lower rye recipes as I think the higher rye hides some of the nuances that the yeast strains posses. I haven't had the most recent Binny's picks but I wasn't really impressed with the last OBSO, and OESV that I got from them...HOT!

Maybe one of our retailer friends can shed some light but it seems like a lot of retailers are getting Four Roses barrels. Just curious, are they overselling barrels to retailers? I would assume that they have a specific allocation that they can sell each month. Are they exceeding that allocation. I ask because I wonder if the supply of barrel selects will slow down.

Local news in Louisville ran a story a month or so back, explained that they had already done as many private barrels in 5 months as they had prior year. That being said it was 400 barrels, which even if it hits 800 this year still shouldn't clean them out if they seeing slowdowns globally.

Now I'm wanting to find what their annual production is in terms of barrels.......

The numbers we were told last Friday were 110 private barrels in the month of April set a record.

They have already done more barrels this year than all of last year.

Not to mention turn around time for us locals is remarkably fast.

I don't know the production numbers, but I'm pretty sure they have 20 warehouses, at 20,000 barrels per
