So I'm relatively new to bourbon. Starting to figure out what I like and don't. I get a bottle every few weeks, but usually on the recommendation of the whatever guy is on staff at the liquor store I frequent. I typically ask what's good for around $30, which seems to be about the price I feel comfortably causally dropping dough for a little experimentation. So far, I haven't been disappointed, but that's because many of those recs come with a sample at the tasting bar.

So I think it's time to outsource. Of course, prices vary, but what do you all think is your favorite bottle for around $30?

Depending on where you live and what store, Wild Turkey Rare Breed can be had for a little below or above that price point.

under $30 my favorite is old grand dad 114, can be had for around $22-$25 depending on your area..its very smooth for its strength..and a ton of flavor in my opinion..

OGD 114 is a "hot" pick. To go along with that, I'm currently enjoying OWA 107.

i keep a wish-list handy of things I either like and plan to re-purchase, or things I want to purchase and try (and a blacklist!)......currently, $30 offerings would include WTRB and HMBIB. I think the WTRB took a price jump though.....and the HMBIB is right at $30.

I agree with the OGD114 value....a steal for $21.

I recommend Four Roses Single Barrel, which might be around $30 depending where you live.

Consider me part of the 4R cult. Small Batch or Single Barrel suits me just fine.

Ah, they're boldly coming out now, oh well so long as they don't call themselves Rosarians, that name is taken.

Safe to say you hate cultists?

I hate everyone who makes generalizations, in general.....

Not looking to cultivate any, just to consume them.

This isn't the answer I'd give everyone with the same question, but... Your brother needs to get you some sample bottles so you can decide for yourself. Come on, Rick!

In the $25-30 range, Four Roses Small Batch, Old Granddad 114 or Weller 12 if you find it. In my area, Four Roses Single Barrel is about $40, as is WT Rare Breed, otherwise they would be my picks

In my area, FRSmB, EC12, and EWSB are all right at $30. Either the FR or EW are my choices.
