Wasn't sure where to post this, so moderators, feel free to move this if necessary. A good friend of mine, Brent Goodin, has, after a lot of work and expense, opened a new distillery here in Elizabethtown. Boundary Oak Distillery. The url is http://www.boundaryoakdistillery.com/

Brent will also be distilling bourbon with the first barrels being filled this fall. He hopes to obtained some sourced bourbon to bottle and sell during the interim, and I have been asked to be part of the barrel selection team. Needless to say, I am looking forward to this. I believe Eric of P&M Liquors will also be a part of the selection team.

Brent's initial batch of "Kentucky Moonshine" has been bottled and delivered to Republic for distribution. An article in today's local newspaper can be found here: http://www.thenewsenterprise.com/content/hardin-county-moonshine-headed-stores

Who knows how this will turn out, but knowing Brent I am confident that he is committed to a quality product and has the long-term resources to produce it.

I didn't see any prices on the website, have they been established yet?

I am unaware of pricing at this time. I believe Eric will be selling "Kentucky Moonshine" and perhaps he can jump in with pricing info, if he has it.

Looks like $24-28 although it seems its distilled to 190 proof and 100 percent sugar. Basically vodka. Thats too bad

Gotta start somewhere. Hope there's enough customers to keep you Rollin' till the well aged stuff comes out. That's when I jump on board.

Coming into the market at what may be the high point and not having actual his own product available for years takes some guts. Best of luck to him.

Best of luck to him!

That said, it's pretty odd to me (although I fully understand why) that legitimate distillers continue to call their un-aged products "moonshine".

I give a pass to Georgia Moon.

Because it's a hot term with lots of buzz thanks to a reality show.

And retail is about $21-25.

If they called it vodka, if would get lumped into a very crowded section. The price needed to make a dollar would place it with the premium vodkas that have much bigger marketing budgets.

Best of luck to him. It will be interesting to see what hits the market if a few years time once these new distilleries ( the ones that ARE distilling) have their aged product ready. We really seem to be in a golden age despite the many controversies that bubble up over age statements NDPs... I believe we have many good years ahead, though that change in WTRB spooks me and will till I taste the new stuff.
