Has anybody seen/heard of/tried this yet? Thoughts? If I missed this topic elsewhere, mods please consolidate.

Standard MGP whisky made in Indiana then packaged with a cutesy story for only $54.99 and the producer's promise that it's really good stuff.

It's owned by Sean Josephs, the guy behind Char No. 4 and Maysville, in New York. He's more transparent than most, and it's pretty good stuff for MGP whiskey.

Still ain't worth $55 a bottle Clay. The information says the Bourbon is aged under Mr. Josephs watchful eye which presumably is done by remote camera since he's a State or three away. Still stumped though how watching a barrel age improves the contents.

There may be very little chicanery as great as bottling MGPI whiskey under a name like "Char No. 4". (Only Wild Turkey and Jim Beam use Char #4 on their barrels. Virginia Gentleman used to use #2 back in the day. Every other major distiller uses #3, or used to.)

It's a matter of reimagining things the way we want them to be. If we really, really want it to be a 4 char we just close our eyes and click our heels together three times.

I believe Clay's mention of "Char No. 4" is a reference to Sean Josephs' restaurant/whiskey bar of that name. There is a thread and other mentions of it here on SB.

Yes and the gentleman also owns Maysville, another NYC whisky themed restaurant, where you can order a drink of Pinhook off the menu for $16 or sip on some other luminaries offered such as Kentucky Tavern or Old Crow for a mere $6 each.
