Wow, giving uncut Makers to bartenders to mix in cocktails.

Woo.

Im trying to understand that statement myself....... I would think you would want to give a barrel proof bourbon to the enthusiast to drink straight up.

Count me in too. Makers is my first bourbon love. Even now, I am never without a bottle of M46, and I expect the Cask Strength stuff will be amazing.

I can see members rolling up to a bar that has this in stock, ordering a cocktail and asking the bartender to 'hold all other ingredients' :)

I'd like to give this a try, but I'd also take the current proof if they left it in the barrel a couple years more ...:yum:

I was thinking the same thing. And then I hear the bartender saying, "ok, but that'll cost you extra."

"Fine, just pour it already."

Maybe, looks like a neck band to me.

Sku and Josh made me look. At the TTB approval. If MM wants to keep its TM/iconic wax dip, making this a neck band could be a problem. BUT, on a 375 without that embossed glass seal (or moving the seal to the front), this would work as a "front" label draped across the bottle's shoulders. That would put "Distilled by" on one side, CASK STRENGTH centered, and Meet the Maker on the other side. It has the added benefit of letting a "smaller" bottle stand out because the label faces "up" when it sits among its taller brethren.

Guess we'll see. OAM, these cask strengths are growing on me if only because I can add water to fit my mood. Is why I like OGD 114 - I can play with it.

Just the idea of a higher proof MM is a pleasant one, considering that Maker's Black, at 95 proof and an extra 18-24 months of age, is quite possibly one of the best wheaters I've ever had. I'm all for higher proof MM.

Nevermind... For some reason tapatalk didn't refresh the thread and I thought I was adding something new... Apologies.

Apparently bartenders are key to making the limited edition of barrel proof Makers the 'new Pappy'.

The better strategy would be to pump up enthusiasts by promoting it on the Internet and then making limited quantities available.

We're but small players in the great plans of the mighty.

This is all very welcome news. There are people collecting all the different wax and label variations. This will instantly be coveted and hard to find. I hope MM eventually bottles enough for people like us, that want to open and drink it.
