Geez, what could I do to celebrate it?

Attention Bourbon Lovers.

You have been duped. Sorry I didn't tell you this sooner but June 14th is NOT National Bourbon Day. There is no such thing. National Bourbon Day was 'declared' by an outfit called the Party Excuses Network, for purposes known only to them. The choice of June 14? Completely arbitrary. A bunch of stupid editors have fallen for it, of course, but you don't have to. This is a pretty small way to say "I am not a sucker for every stupid meme that comes down the pike. I am not a sheep." And if you want to toast to "June 14th is not National Bourbon Day," you by all means should.

Yours Truly, Colonel Crotchety.

Even though a woman named Anna Jarvis invented Mother's Day in 1908, I prefer to avoid the perilous repercussions of not celebrating it. Some people even say that every day should be Mother's Day.

Since every day is National Bourbon Day (nay, International Bourbon Day) here on sb.com, I will similarly avoid the perilous repercussions of not celebrating it.

We'll know that it's really been accepted as a holiday when Hallmark comes out with cards for it.
