393foureyedfox
Enjoyed some ECBP last night to calm the nerves before a panel interview this morning. Think it might be more effective during the interview, but would be impossible to hide the joyous facial expressions that are automatic when I sip it but funny! Good luck on your interview! Richnimrod
Had a nice pour of Henry McKenna 10-yr. SB BIB yesterday. Veeeery Nice!!! :drinking:The last few bottles I've opened of this one have all been superb. I see that some have experienced rather 'less than stellar' bottles of it lately. I hope the ones I have bunkered will be as nice as the ones I've had for the last few years. I have 4 'Old Label' ones left in the closet, plus two 'new'. I haven't run a SBS from the two different labels. I'm afraid it'll result in major disappointment.
kcgumbohead
Very late to the Weller party as I only tried it last year, am on my second bottle. I have gotten char in both which may be what others refer to as soot? While perfectly enjoyable neat with an eye toward dialing back a bit of the char ( and missing any rye spice) I began mingling it 1:1 with 4RYL and I liked the result. That morphed into last nights pour which is 2 parts YL to 1 Part each W12 and WT101. These are inexpensive components several SBrs have on hand. I made a small batch some time ago returned to it again last night, gonna make a whole bottle I like it so much. Give it a whirl if your W12 isn't quite to your liking.Participating in Whiskey Wednesday w a pour of W12. This is a newer bottle and I am getting the "sooty" taste that several on here have described. First time I have run across it and this bottle gets one more chance before it heads to the blend decanter. Glad it's not my first rodeo with Grandpa Weller. amg
My last bottle of 2013 W12 seemed to improve quite a bit after it was open for a while.

jonhalter
Had the hankering for a bourbon and diet coke with my pizza for dinner tonight. (dont drink them often anymore but it was tasty) VOB did just fine in it. Kids are in bed now and just poured a large EWSB04. Mmmmmmmmm. HH goodness. BootsOnTheGround
Stuck in a cheap hotel but that didn't stop me from sweet talking room service for a cocktail glass for some tasty pours of of the 128.7 Stagg Jr I found earlier. Reminiscent of the 134.4 with the burnt marshmallow creme and raw oak but none of the heavy clove I got on that batch (from what I remember.) Still a bit boozy with water, but I just opened the bottle so I can't complain its being a little sassy. Finish has an excellent tingle fade to it without the bitterness, almost like an Atomic Fireball with a bit of juicy cayenne pepper candy. flahute
Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm taking the day off work tomorrow so tonight I went out with some co-workers for a pre birthday happy hour. We started off with OFBB naturally. It was from two years ago I think. Different from the '13 I had. Then moved on to Handy. Finished off with good old Elmer. A darn god night. bmajazz
In anticipation of an epic L.A. bourbon tasting at my place tomorrow, I went with two random choices tonight: finishing off a bottle of Knob Creek (literally a single pour), and Mellow Corn. I can't convince anyone else that it's good.

jeffrey r
I had posted in the purchase thread that I stumbled upon a few bottles of RHF, which I hadn't seen in these parts in at least a year. Having bought a few of said bottles, cracked the first bottle open last night. Very good. I can definitely taste the BT family resemblance, but need to give it a bit more time to breathe before drawing any big conclusions. I can see though that it is a bit more complex than Blanton's. Not necessarily better, but different.
