it sounds like a joke, but there was a one-armed guy there who couldnt be beaten in ping-pong. Always cool to see people who dont let obstacles keep them down! But, I didnt lose to that dude, I lost to my wife.

Little over 2 hours into smoking that butt. Decided Arnold was right, sleep faster, decided to double down on the OBSK GBS with a Esteli Serie R. The GBS selection shines with a few drops of water bringing forth rick house, oak and spice giving one time to reflect on the immense gifts of life. Enjoy the little things, the seconds, savor them all . . .

had a friend stop by tonight to pick up a gift we brought back from MI for him, some Short's beers, as Ive known the guy 20 years (over half my life), and he is a huge beer fan. He's also gotten into scotch and is getting into bourbon. So, I broke out the McKenna BIB I enjoyed so much last night and we had some of that. He says its a bit hot for him, but loved the nose and aftertaste. I have to agree on the latter, totally. It has that lovely HH rickhouse smell to it, and an utterly pleasant aftertaste that lingers forever.

Now, I am celebrating tomorrow's first day on the new job with a pour of Booker's, my second favorite bourbon....I guess I should say my favorite bourbon, since the only thing better to me is Dickel 9year, which isnt a bourbon really, at least not according to Dickel.

8esebary.jpg Finally got my bottle and boy is it stunning. Wonderful work by the SB guys (josh, Ryan, Dan, yeti, brad, Sean) for making a great pick.

Enjoyed some mingles of OBSK and OESO, although hard to pick a winner today. The 2:1 (heavier on OBSK) seemed to take the lead - just the right balance of spiciness and sweetness for me, with a long finish that started a bit sharp but landed softly.

Cracked open a Barterhouse last evening for the first time, and was pleased. Nicely balanced and flavorful--quite tasty I must say. Not in love with the $80 pricetag, but it is what it is.

And then one of the great things about bourbon, had a second pour of Medley Bros., which is significantly younger and $60 less expensive than Barterhouse, and that was quite good as well. Doesn't take anything away from Barterhouse or any other more aged or expensive bourbons, but the younger and cheaper stuff is often excellent as well.

What year you drinking?

Bing I can't make out the laser code as it's worn off. I picked it up at TWE. Here is a picture9uga4a5a.jpg

Long day, today. Relaxing back with pours of HH BIB 6 yr from the fridge, and WTRB 112.8. Both, knockout good bourbons. The kick of that signature big WT char makes it particularly good tonight, in comparison.

Had a couple of pours of EC12. One of my favorites; a little sweeter than I recall from my last glass, but still top notch.

Having a pour of 4RSB, WTRB, and bulleit bourbon to end my last day at the beach. Sucks when it ends.

current release WT101. I find it a damn good bourbon, and a steal at $19.

Ok ok. Got done with that buffalo trace and couldn't say no to a FR1B I've been nursing for awhile. Getting low, but thankfully I have another of the same in the bunker. This one is pretty awesome!

I keep coming back to this one to see if I was wrong the last time and I keep determining that I still really like it.

Tonight though, it's some ER10 and VOB6.

Finished off another bottle of WTRB 112 (this is just a real fine bourbon) and then had a couple pours of EC21. This bottle has opened up real nice with caramel and a sweet oak taste that just lingers.

Might be worth pointing out the TWE is likely The Whisky Exchange in London. A bit of a commute for most of us. But appears to be regularly available on their website.

SAOS 8 yr CS. Definitely a higher amount of rye in the mash. I swear I get a little paprika spiked BBQ sauce in the nose. About the only BP MGP product I've had with no acetone in the nose. That's an A+ right there. It's not very deep on the palate; this barrel anyway.

I agree and also found the finish somewhat lacking, which was surprising. I started the evening with a Old Scout 7 that has proven to be a very easy drinker.
