Just finished up with some W12, too late to say ending the night, so I'll call it starting the day...

Had a friend over last night who hadn't explored much bourbon but was an Irish / Scotch fan. We poked around EC12, ETL, and finally ER10. He loved the vanilla in the ER10 the best.

Seems like I've just od on FR SBs lately, not that I'm complaining.

Last night, while grilling steak and sweet corn, it was something well suited to such an activity. .HH BIB, from the refrigerator, of course

Some peanut/PB infused 1792, and loving it :yum:

Nice Gary! Let us know if you use it in cocktails (in the appropriate thread of course).

The past two evenings, for the first time in a long time, I pulled out the PVW15 to celebrate the birthday. I had forgotten how decadent this is being so sweet. 40 layers of caramel make this more of a dessert indulgence. At one point not long ago I thought this could be my daily sipper if easily available but now I don't think so. I love the stuff but don't think I could handle how rich it is on a regular basis. It's ideal as a special treat when I have a sweet tooth.

I "accidentally" poured some rare breed into the last little bit of WT101 rye that was in my glass. I was going to dump it out but decided to give it a shot. It's OK

Had some Blanton's SFTB earlier. Having some OBSK 14 year at them moment.

Is that a gift shop bottle or a private selection? Don't see many private selections that old

It's a GS release. 2012 I think. It's a big spicy meatball. Absolutely wonderful.

polished off the HH6BIB at games night last night, so took the opportunity to replace it by opening one of the dusty Ky Tavern BIB's I got a few months ago. My first ever with it. nothing to write home about, and with it being $2 more than HH6BIB in the few stashes I know of, I dont see any more coming home either. But, you dont know if you dont try, right?

Last night hanging with JKLS and ChefNash included pours of WFE 17yr, barrel 14A, WFE 8 yr, barrel 375, PVW15 from 08, and some Old Blowhard. Pretty solid all around, but the ryes took the show.

Finished a bottle of FRSmB while watching South Park. Somehow they fit together. I have another but think I'll switch to BT - Paddy may be on to something.

thanks!

This Booker's is pretty good stuff! I think its funny....you tell people you like a 130 proof whiskey and they think immediately you're an alcoholic. Yet, if you drink it properly to enjoy its flavor, you couldn't possibly get f#@ked up on it. Tiny sips are the key to really enjoying such a bourbon. Ive been working over a 1 ounce pour for the past hour
