What bourbon are you drinking? Summer 14

Old Forrester 100. Just ok tonight. Was debating between that and EWBIB. I think I made a poor choice. If not for my 4 oz poor Id have the later. But I have to teach tomorrow so 1 is it for me.

Went to the hotel bar and asked for a double KC neat. She pulled the bottle and it was very low, not enough for a double. Looked in the stockroom and did not have another bottle. Oh well, ended up with Makers. It went down easy with the steak dinner.

Col EHT SB first then an EHT SmB second - a Wash-Cleveland football night with the Nats playing the Dbacks at the same time. Couldn't decide - hence, BOTH. The SmB, believe it or not, is smoother, has a longer finish, and makes me want to hug the bottle. Not that the SB is bad, but . . .

Had an all day summit at work and as requested by coworkers (Texas and UK) to bring some libations, I brought them a bottle of ETL and Longrow 14yr sherry finished.

After some user hazard FMEA, etc any thing would taste good, we had some nice pours to get through it faster hahaha.

Today interestingly the scotch tasted quite good to me. I had not like it that much before.

Now at a nice dinner and the best they have is Bulliet. Oh well going for some nice reds instead.

Having some FRSmBLE 2013 and a Willett 10 yr private selection. The FR is better, lighter, and the finish is long but not hot like the Willett. The Willett has a nuttiness on the nose like Booker's, but I prefer the light floral nose of the FR as well.

Weller 12 from a bottle open for about a year - neat in a Glencairn. I like wheaters and I have tried to find something I like in this bottle but it just does not do it for me. It adds something to the SB blend, but just not enjoyable enough on its own. This is just too woody/sooty for my tastes. I have had Lot B and enjoyed it immensely, so the barrel selection process was not kind to this batch of W12. I'll buy another bottle when I can find one - not available in NJ - in hopes of a better batch but I'll make sure to have OWA on hand for an SB blend just in case.

Beam brandy finish. The sweetness is nice, but there isn't enough heat to balance it at only 86 proof.

WTRB 112 tonight and it's finally working for me. I've seen a lot of posts from people really liking the new version and considering it better than the 108 proof version. My first few pours from my first bottle of it were all heat and somewhat of a flat flavor. Tonight it has started to sing. Not sure what the difference is but it's resembling what I remember the 108 proof version to be. I still have two bottles of that version stashed away so a SBS is in order.

I dont remember the 108 WTRB much, I only had it a few times. It didnt make much of an impression on me. But, the new 112 I love, and my bourbon friends love it as well. I'm currently out though, that last bottle went over a little too well.

You and TT really like it I know which gave me hope when it changed over. Then I opened this bottle and wondered what I was missing. It appears it just needed to oxidize a bit because now I'm really digging it. Went back in for a second pour just to make sure and it was just as good as the first. Time to bolster the bunker because I can get it for 28.99 here.

Had a couple of pours from a bottle I picked up in B'town in the Spring. New to me, having never seen one before. First time tasting this one.

David Nicholson 1843.

Not too bad, actually; especially for the bargain price (don't remember exactly how much; but cheap).

The nose wasn't exceptional, but it had nice legs, and a decent, clean taste profile. Sweet, corn, a hint of 'vitamin' like a Tullahoma product; but not nearly so much. Not in my usual preference range; but oddly; I liked it pretty well.
