Not to get the thread too far off track, but I belong to a kiteboarding forum, and when a good launch gets outed, all hell breaks loose. Don't get me started about surfers. Ever seen Point Break? :)

I'm interested in tasting notes on this. Given how the Barterhouse tastes, I kind of don't see me buying the older versions of this -- it's hard for me to imagine that this bourbon gets better and not worse after more than 20 years.

Whats even the different story with Rhetoric? I have 2 bottles of Barterhouse just haven't cracked them. Waiting for a special month, maybe my son's 5th birthday. Rhetoric is 20yrs old also right? The 26 (and pricetag) kept me from any interest in Old Blowhard, even though its still available.

Yeah, what he said! Trying to figure out the difference myself!

I think I read on one of the blogs that Rhetoric is supposed to be a blend of Old and New Bernheim whiskeys, whereas Barterhouse is just New Bernheim and Old Blowhard is just Old Bernheim. I can't find that source now, though.

Remember the famous words of Abraham Lincoln " Don't believe everything you read online"

I'd rank the OBD releases:

1. Rhetoric

2. Barterhouse

3. Old Blowhard

None of them have blown me away. Rhetoric may be best viewed as a year-to-year experiment or project, however. Buy a bottle each year it's released and compare them year-to-year, sine each release will be aged one extra year.

Rhetoric hit KY. last Friday. I picked up 2 bottles @ $89.00 each.
