For what it's worth I heard the rye was better than the bourbon. But that's not saying much since the bourbon was described as horrific.

Sort of makes sense; I think rye tends to be more drinkable young. Of course I guess it's worth noting that most of us have not tried either whiskey that we are criticizing, though at this risk of letting my advancing middle age turn me squire-esque, I would say that I'm not going to pay a case of Barton to find out. If I could get Barton in PA...

Seeing as though the avg consumer enamoured by the brand can't really taste anyway, its hardly relevant to any popularity thus far. People will pay 50% over retail due to branding, perceived scarcity, or just cause its the newest release and the have to have it. This is not a new phenomenon in consumer commodities of all kinds.

What he said They will sell it, and probably even have enough demand to sell a couple waves before customers move on to "the next thing". I mean, JBW still outsells every other bourbon, despite what it tastes like for the price.

Yeah, if I were in your shoes, I'd rethink my position. And after that rethinking, if I were convinced I was in fact correct...I'd keep it to myself...

I took a bottle of the bourbon (which I agree was terrible) and mixed it with a bottle of the rye....the result was much better....at least drinkable...

I haven't had it, but that seems crazy with all of the negative reviews elsewhere.

Other than Chuck and maybe two others I trust SB members tasting notes over all others.

If you have been a member long enough you can pick up others taste so much so that if some dislike it you know you will have opposite opinion. IMO
