Dave43
Interesting how Jeffers creek bottle is exactly the same as weller 107...even the same sticker.
amg
VOB uses that bottle shape, too. This reddit thread seems to suggest that it's most likely Barton-distilled:http://www.reddit.com/r/bourbon/comments/1bm9go/has_anyone_tried_or_have_any_information_on/
amg
This post from 2012 corroborates it being Barton juice: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?17691-Another-Age-Statement-Bites-the-Dust-(And-More-Recent-COLA-Findings)&p=292293&viewfull=1#post292293
mark fleetwood
Agreed that Jeffers Crk = VOB. Barton & now Saz must (have) know(n) that VOB 90 and 100 were priced so far below what they should/could be, and that they were losing what would be incremental sales revenue of it. A possible fix? Slowly drop VOB (at least 100,90 and maybe even 86) and devote that juice (more watered down) to something called Jeffers Creek 80 (heck even make note on the bottle that its 6 yr old -- amazingly public given what they did with VOBV 6 yr), and price it where you priced VOB 90 and 100. Dang,I sound conspiratorially vengeful don't I?
squire
No conspiracy here it's rather straightforward, water it down, change the label and double the price. As the Godfather would say it's not personal, just business.

Josh
Barton makes multiple bourbon mashbills, so it might not be the same recipe as VOB. I've never had it though. Probably will get a bottle next time I'm in KY.
PaulO
If it was 90 proof, I would have tried it. At 80 proof, I'll pass.

Josh
They have at least two bourbon mash bills in production, that's confirmed. Given the new labels that came through for different 1792 expressions it's very likely that they have several more. JC could be the same recipe as VOB of course but there's no evidence either way. That was my point. Edited August 20, 2014 by Josh

That one sent me to the history books....the long-winded Edward Everette is the reference..... I assume.
squire
Yes Josh, I see your point, they were planning extensions of the 1792 line. I'm saying I don't think they were planning Bartonesque extensions like Jeffers or the other handful of higher priced Bourbon brands recently on the shelves.
