I just received a call from the Heaven Hill gift shop that the PHC8 is now available. The gift shop price is $130 (at that price I passed the bottle along to a friend who didn't seem to mind the price). MSRP is supposedly going to be $90.

I wonder how much longer before it's available online or local stores...

I'd imagine in the next few weeks, or even sooner in some places.

Not a bad price for a superproof. I'm keen to try this one. Not at 130, but at 90 I'll give'er a go.

Still contemplating whether I should buy this if I got the chance, reviews be damned. I think I would like wheat whiskey. Maybe I'll finally go out and by some Bernheim just to make sure.

I think I may buy a bottle of this. Frankly, I think the product sounds more interesting than a lot of the others being released in the next couple months.

Hmm. Pretty good review and sounds yummy.

I was hesitant as I was hoping I like the normal wheat whiskey but don't when I tried it before.

I enjoy Bernheim, it has a nice nose and taste. But a short finish IMHO. Turned up to 127.4 and almost double the age and I suspect it's going to be a great great drink.

I'm looking forward to this one quite a bit, even though Bernheim didn't really do much for me. I felt it was thin and didn't have much in the way of character, a lot closer to a vodka than a whiskey. But I'm hoping the same as you, barrel proofed and extra aged, fingers crossed that it will be something really interesting.

I'm thinking the same...

Just picked up my first Bernheim, although probably not a fair assesment of it because it was a SB store select, I like it, I'll be looking for the new PHC 8,as long as it is under a $100, still trying to recover from the last purchase...EC23... my wallet took a severe hit by that one,not sure that I will be doing that anymore.

  • 4 weeks later...

Was able to pick up one yesterday and pleasantly surprised it was under $100 (can't remember if it was $80 or $90, $80 I think!).

127.4 pf. Will be interesting to see if there are multiple dumps as has been the case in the past with BP bottles. Also picked up a Beam Quarter Cask, the third offering from the "Signature Craft" series, on a bit of a lark.

I believe they said there will be two batches this year. Although with past releases that had multiple batches (e.g. blend of mashbills), did they accurately state how many batches there would be? Or did batches just keep appearing?

I think with PHC they have been pretty consistent about the number of batches there are going to be presuming they release that info to start with. At least one different batch would be interesting to try if you can find both which is never a given.

Really enjoying this one. Got to try it at the Gazebo at KBF and was lucky enough to find some. Has a great long finish and handles a little water great.

Best regards, Tony

I finally found where I read that there will be two batches - it's in the press release. See the third paragraph (credit to Sipp'n Corn blog for making this available):

Good to know! Would be curious to compare batches down the road.
