squire
This is something I pass up on a regular basis at $44.99. Time to pick one up and give it a try. And, I like beets, so either way...I assure you there's absolutely no taste of beet in Rock Hill Farms, not even a hint, I dislike beets and would've noticed. squire
Had a Julio's pick that tasted of cherriesBlack cherry or dark fig perhaps but no beet.
kjbeggs
Beats me where you're getting a taste of Beets in RHF. I like RHF, and keep a couple bottles on hand, especially with the extreme scarceness of ETL.
LCWoody
I bought a of bottle RHF last week. (if I'm reading the date right it was bottled in 2013), and it tasted very young I would say around 4 to 5-year-old mark (lots of corn). This is the first new bottle I have bought in quite a while all of my other bottles were from 2008 and older. I would pick up any older bottles that you see. P.S. I do like RHF a lot, But the one I bought from 2013 has me concerned.
PaulO
I get more of a cherry cola aftertaste. It would be a happy day if I found half price RHF. I like it quite a bit.
s8ist
Well it sounds like some people have experienced the earthy flavor I'm getting. But it also sounds like there may be some typical single barrel variation going on here too, so maybe I'll run into one that tastes more like cherry cola. I could go for that. Here's the bottle stamp from the 2nd bottle (1st is long gone now), in case it means anything to anyone: B13 291 14:46K
humchan2k
Never had funky taste in my RHF, but then agan it's my favorite, readily (but not easily) available bourbon on the market, by a country mile. Love it....and the bottle's cool if you want to use it for vatting, I'd think
squire
It's the most frustrating brand I know because they got the whisky right but the packaging wrong. RHF in a plain bottle should've been a best seller.

squire
Can you explain what you mean by this?Sure. Rock Hill Farms has a dryer profile than it's siblings Blantons or Elmer T. Lee, but sales are handicapped by being packaged in a decanter that adds about $15 to the retail cost. In a plain bottle it should sell as well as Elmer. 393foureyedfox
i wish everything came in a WFE/BTAC type bottle. They're classy, have a smaller footprint so you can put more of them in a given area, and a nice thick bottom that helps to keep them from tipping when the fill levels are low. Short fat bottles suck.

Tony Santana
You can get a lot of those Knob Creek style bottles into a space as well, and they don't run into the "too tall for the cabinet" problem. The worst ones are those Willett Pot Still/OF Birthday Bourbon bottles. Take up way too much space.
Paddy
It's the most frustrating brand I know because they got the whisky right but the packaging wrong. RHF in a plain bottle should've been a best seller. It was for me when it was called AAA 10 yr. I love RHF, but for the price the now discontinued AAA 10 yr was close enough to satisfy me. With AAA being discontinued, I held out false hope that RHF would be more readily available and cost friendly. The opposite couldn't be more true, as we now see very limited availability as well as a huge markup in cost. sailor22
I like the RHF bottle but have had problems with the top on occasion. When i contacted BT about the problem with the top they refunded the cost of the bottle. No complaints at all with that level of service. The Knob Creek shaped bottles seem to be the most efficient for storage while the BTAC bottles are a pain because of the hight and the extra weight which impacts shipping cost. The very earliest WFE bottles (cognac shape) are still my all time favorite. Reasonably space efficient, not too tall and not too heavy. Used by Corner Creek now I believe. dcbt
Yeah. Too bad they have Corner Creek in them. That's the "wine bottle bourbon," isn't it? Before I got my bar I used to have the height problems with the BTAC bottles when I was storing in a hutch, but the VW bottles fit perfectly. Those might be my favorite, not too tall and very space efficient at the base.
