Ive been concerned for some time about future availability of HH's lower line namesake brands. Today, I decided to buy a couple cases when I saw this. The green 6 year 90 proof is now NAS, and I saw it at at least a half dozen stores today, sometimes mixed in with older 6 year bottles. At least its not HH6*....

also, apparantly, HHBIB gold is going away. I had several store owners and one distributor rep saying so, at least. And, the endless number of stores with none on the shelves now seems to confirm it. I found one place with any left, a local pharmacy, and bought them all....the look on the lady's face was funny!

Good new though, is that the HH6BIB new label is showing up in more places, even if many stores who once carried it seem to be dropping it from their inventory saying they cant seem to get it. That same rep told me it was going away as well

Thanks for the heads up. The only HH BIB around here seem to be the Gold Label and J.W. Dant. As between those two, is there any thought of which is the better bourbon, regardless of price? Or should I just keep passing both of these up and getting 7 yr 103 proof Fighting Cock in this realm?

See, this is what you get for your four roses comments the other day.

Oh I wouldn't say the Gold BIB is going away Fox. I prefer to think the supply of Evan Williams BIB is increasing.

i cant blame HH one bit....Ive been saying for some time how nice it is they keep the supply up and prices down. No one else offers a respectable 6 year stated 90 proofer for $9, but sooner or later, you gotta reconsider. I prefer HHBIB to EWBIB, and the price was right, and I had the means and time, so I loaded up. Like I told the amused sales rep today as I cleared the shelf of all three HH labelings, "It's not like it's gonna go bad!"

Yeah and 20 years from now you'll be telling the new members here about them golden years.

if i get much more, I'll still be sharing it in 20 years!

I give Dant a slight edge over HH gold label. Between those three, I definitely like Fighting Cock the best.

In my local liquor store we've had the 6 year 90 proof and a green labelled NAS 90 proof on the bottom shelf side by side for a while. They're both special order and gone, though, so in Iowa that probably means it'll be awhile before either come back.

even NAS, i'm sure its still worth $9

but, I'm set for years now. I might go through 2 bottles of it a year.

I chuckled yesterday as I handed over $200 for two cases of 6 year HH whiskey (90 and BIB's), thinking that some people will pay that for one bottle of some fancy-shmancy this-or-that.

Duh, you get what you pay for. If its expensive it must be good. You say "mystery juice", I say "so good it has to be kept a secret". My trendiest hipster friend said it was cool.

Thank you. I won't go chasing the younger stuff then, as FC is quite good and cheap enough already.

I just checked a favorite store in Ames, also gone. They just had some a month ago, should have bought it then. They still have shelf space for it, holding out hope.

Ames is where I'm located, so there's a good chance we mean the same place. I'm also kicking myself for not getting more when it was there!

if you're in town for KBF and want some, PM me and I can lead you to a few stockpiles of it on shelves. There's still a few places with lots of it, but most places that only keep small amounts on shelves are slowly replacing it with the NAS bottles

The green 6 year never gets any respect, but I dont know why. I always figured it was the stigma that newbies associate with the label name

Looking at your photo of the new bottle, did you notice it still says 6 years old on the neck label? Looks like all they did was remove the separate label.

doesnt say 6 year on the neck label. All they did was stop putting the shoulder banner on it that said "ninety (6) proof", the other two labels on the bottle are the same as they had been.

Ok, I'm confused. The photos you posted, of the bottles with and without the shoulder banners, I can see it says 6 years old on the neck tag right below the "Kentucky Bourbons" text on all the bottles.

Yea, the picture clearly says "6 years old" are there others that do not have it on the neck label?

Maybe it an error batch that left off the shoulder label, or maybe they are doing away with that extra sticker...I bet that would save them a couple grand a year.

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing it. That was my initial reaction too- leaving off the shoulder tag would save big bucks over the course of a few years.

A case in the bunker is worth two.......

Never bad to bank for uncertainty. And these are uncertain times we live in.
