Big pour of WFE 10-Year Barrel #816 (126.7-proof). This was a D.E.P.'s Fine Wine selection last year. It's excellent. No clue how I got it.

last night was a decision between Ezra 101 and Bookers, and I went with the Ezra, so tonight, its the Booker's, and man is it nice!

One heck of a night here in cold semi rainy Seattle. Started with 4RLE SmB '14. It was my first pour of it and boy is it nice. If this bottle gets better with a little air as so many do then I'm really in for a treat.

Followed with a little MMCS. Such a different pour, and a little unfair to drink this after such a stellar opener, but I do like it.

Finishing with PH8. Hamina, hamina, is this a sweet nectar of a pour.

I usually reserve decadent nights like this for the weekend, but it's the release season and it's hard to hold back and wait.

Life is still good despite the tough sledding to land limiteds this year.

A hefty pour of SB HHSS #2 while trying to keep warm.

Tyler, still working an open version 1.0 here. How would you compare 2.0?

Not Bourbon, but was invited to a Louis XIII tasting last night. Phenomenal stuff!

Don't think I'd ever blow my Bourbon budget on it, but considering maybe some Remy XO for the holidays.

After the tasting, stopped by Whiskey Cake for a couple Sazeracs (One Cognac, one Rye).

Is that place worth trying out? My wife sometimes suggest we go there (even though she's pregged up and doesn't drink bourbon anyway), but then I nod towards our bar and say, "What are they going to have that I don't have?" But I've never been there, so... Do they have anything worthwhile?

I'd says it worth a visit for the "whiskey cake" alone. They have some interesting cocktails, and are one of the few places in the area that I've found that will make a Sazerac.

They usually have Pappy, but I've never ordered it there, so I don't know what they charge for it. Their bar is pretty well stocked. I tried Redbreast there for the first time.

The food is typical bar food quality for the most part, but there are some interesting options. Last night I had a platter of their local favorites which included Venison sausage, beef jerky, some local cheeses, prosciutto and veggies.

That's the basis of some of my reluctance to go out. There aren't a lot of bars around here with great bourbon selections. Of the ones that do, they will undoubtedly have something I don't have. But they don't have as much variety as I do. Do I really need to pay X dollars a pour for something when I have top (and medium, and low) shelf offerings that I've already paid for sitting at home?

It's not just the money for me... It's the hassle factor. Other people will be there, lots of them, too many probably. That alone is pretty much a deal-killer. Combine the resulting wait with the drive and the parking (or lack thereof in most places), and it's a no-brainer...

Last night it was my vatting of 4ROESV/OBSQ just a great combo, these two particular bottles were very complimentary.

After a year of drinking mostly FR and HH brands, some standard Old Forester 86 proof. I prefer this and the Signature head and shoulders above the Woodford.

Followed up with some Bookers 2013-6. Baker' s was my favorite JB product but this roundtable batch just destroys the standard Baker's, as good as that is. Booker's used to come off a bit hot to me, but this one is well-rounded. Maybe I've just fried my taste buds over the past few years ... even better with just a few drops of H20... :)

After a long, happy, cold walk with the dog, a nice pour of store select ER-10. This one is a bit darker with more barrel notes than the standard bottling. I really like the additional depth to complement the sweetness. A good way to close out a long work week and start to get into the Thanksgiving spirit.

EWSB '04. Nice mid tier bourbon. I always find that EWSB always opens up a little after the bottle has been open. I opened the bottle a few days ago and enjoyed an initial pour. Then my wife used half the bottle making oatmeal raisin cookies today. I decided that I needed to enjoy another pour before she uses it up.

Booker's 2013-7 again tonight. Been a fan of Bookers for quite a while, as it was the one that really got me into bourbon. Im enjoying it more than ever with this one. I think I may have to grab some more of this batch before theyre gone.
