berto
Bourbon Club met at work tonight. New bottles this month were Bernheim, Mellow Corn, and Stagg Jr. I haven't made a face and shuddered while drinking whiskey in a long time but the Stagg Jr. made me do it tonight. Put it back in the barrel it ain't done yet.

kjbeggs
EWSB '04. Nice mid tier bourbon. I always find that EWSB always opens up a little after the bottle has been open. I opened the bottle a few days ago and enjoyed an initial pour. Then my wife used half the bottle making oatmeal raisin cookies today. I decided that I needed to enjoy another pour before she uses it up. Did the recipe call for bourbon, or did she just decide to get hammered while baking? Tony Santana
Had Mexican food last night, which usually means margaritas, but decided to go straight for the ER10 while putting the meal together. And ER10 again when the spice from the meal died down. Finished the night up HWMND, Act 2.5. Two very different whiskeys, but both enjoyable in their own right. dSculptor
Cracked a '94 vin. Of BIB, very pleasantly surprised.. very dark, and rich for a 4 yr old. with a nice floral or maybe fruity nose. Wish I could find more of this stuff sitting on a shelf somewhere. Oh and we did a flight of Old Blowhard, rhetoric, barterhouse... Hard to pick a fav out of them, the BH was by far the smoothest, but it was also the one that had the least amount of liquid in it, so it had more air time. Yeh and I did a small vat of all them, and that was my fav out of all of them. Then at the end we opened up a Ritt Bib, first time for this stuff, very tasty. Then it was 4:30 a.m. time to go too bed. Paddy
Sampling earlier with a life long friend. Started off with 4RSmbLE'14, HHSS#2, Lot 40 and baby Saz. Tough way to start things off, but someone's gotta do it.
Hop
Although it doesn't get a lot of love I thoroughly enjoy Stagg Jr. And am doing so this evening. Started off neat with the first pour but diluted the second with a bit of distilled water. Very enjoyable.
GaryT
FRSmBLE 2013 and 2014. Different bourbons to be sure; I like the 2013 a bit better but Jim Rutledge continues to put together a fabulous SmBLE year after year.
clingman71
A local beer bar is quietly some VW at very reasonable prices. Had 10 & 15 last night, my first 2014 release tastes. Sort of a strange thing going on with VW for me, 2012 I preferred 15 over all but the 20 and that was close. 2013 I felt the 10 rivaled the 15, but I did not have any '13 PVW20. While I haven't had the 12 or 20 this year, I preferred the 10 to the 15. This was the woodiest PVW15 I've had to date. The 10 was a rich, viscous, caramel bomb. Note: every time I have had 23 I have found it to be too woody.
tylermke
Tyler, still working an open version 1.0 here. How would you compare 2.0?I think 2.0 is a bit drier and the finish is a bit more bitter. However, more cognac influence and I find it more complex. 1.0 is softer on entry and more balanced, but both are great!

Mardbrown
Went out to McCormicks Big Whisky Grill. They had a great selection. I wanted to try something I never had so I ended up trying Rock Hill Farms. I enjoyed it very much and will be looking for a bottle. Now I'm at home getting ready for some Parker's Heritage POH. Here is a shot of the goodies. Edited November 23, 2014 by Mardbrown
ldugsjr1986
My night wasn't as exciting as the guy above me ... but started out with a JD Single Barrel Store Select (I know ... not technically bourbon) and finished with a health pour of ER10. Very good from both bottles tonight.
Livininabox
Bookers got the nod tonight. For its proof, it's rather smooth.
Paddy
Following the afternoon tasting, I took a short break before moving on to W12, a W12/4R1B 50/50 blend and PVW15 ('13 release) for the evening festivities.
393foureyedfox
went to dinner with some friends, and EC12 was the best thing on the list. For $7 they gave me one hell of a neat pour!then well all came back here for a bonfire night. I put out all my opens....HH6/90, HH6BIB, OE101, Jailer's, WTRB, Booker's and Dickel 9/103. the Jailers finally hit the bin, and Im happy for that. The OE101 took a hit too, I have one friend who likes that pretty well. Another friend likes Bookers, but I dont think he had any. I even picked up an extra Bookers on the way home thinking it would get wiped out tonight. I went with the final pour of Jailers to get rid of it, then enjoyed a fat Booker's by the fire.
