Ezra 101 as I shop online for xmas crap.

I like this stuff more every time I have it.

Just returned from a 4 day road trip down to Bend, OR for the annual Thanksgiving feast with friends. I only had what I brought with me which was 4R Small Batch, CEHT Small Batch, Baker's, and WTRB. My friends got a lot of enjoyment out of the CEHT SmB while I really came into a place of agreement with the Baker's. I brought down a 2/3 full bottle, the first 1/3 I had consumed over the past 4 months or so. Though I liked it, I had determined it to but just "OK" for the price. For whatever reason, it really tickled the right spot on the taste buds and now I'm thinking I should replace this bottle when done. The WTRB also held it's own.

Now home, tonight I revisited ETL and damn if this isn't a beautiful and elegant pour. If I can load up on this, I don't need to bother with CEHT SmB.

I'm capping off the night with some PHC8. I've enjoyed this from the get go, but tonight I nailed the water ratio. (Bottle air time may also be at play). It became such a smooth pour of buttered toffee that it upped it to another level. Liquid dessert. If I miss out on Van Winkle this year, I'll make do with the PHC8's I've scored.

A little late to the party, but had a healthy pour of ECBP at my favorite restaurant. I totally agree with the hype, at $45 a bottle (IIRC) this stuff is legit. Too bad it's not readily available in my area.

Got the typical barrel proof "so sweet it almost makes you pucker" on the entry. Then the EC bitter wood on the finish. Kinda wish there was more rye spice in the mid, but maybe if I had more time with it, I'd "find" it. But the price as I remember is dead on, not quite as good as BTAC level releases at $70+ per bottle, but still definitely special.

Started out with some JD Single Barrel store select. Then some JD Holiday Select from last year. Now have a hefty pour of Maker's 46 ... gotta say this last one is not my style at all. Can't think of any other way to describe it besides a lot of "tobacco" in the flavor. Is this normal? Anyone else have thoughts? I'll preface with the fact I have kind of a cold, so my nose may not be working 100%.

A pour from a couple-year-old ORVW 107. Very Sweet; Very Aromatic. Very Nice!

Started with my first pour of 2014 WLW this evening. Very warming with a fantastic finish.

Moving on to a FRSB OESO paired with a 2010 Sir Winston cigar

At a conference in Orlando for the week. Happy to find that the hotel bar has a decent bourbon selection. Tonight is Booker's, but tomorrow might be Blanton's.

The last from my flask of GBS OESO, which I thought would last the whole week yet seemed to come up short.

Felt like I had a cold or allergies coming on so I chased them away with several pours of WTRB.

Feel mucho better this AM

not technically drinking it, but....

the concept occurred to me the other day as I was thinking of what holiday candy treats to make this year, that I would take a jar of marachino cherries, dump out the sweet syrup, replace it with HHBIB, let it sit a week or so, then make dark chocolate covered bourbon cherries. How could this possibly go wrong?!

Make sure the cherries are well drained before dipping into the chocolate.

Had an Old Fashioned with Bittermilk #1 and some WT Forgiven. That bottle and my bottle is WTRB are both near empty. One or both will come to an end tonight.

Having a side by side tonight. OFBB and HM 10y BIB. The OFBB this year is good (not as good as last years, but good. Glad I got one) but this HM (barrel #1464) I have open is very good. One of the best I've ever had of the HM 10y line.

OGD114, followed by ER10. This bottle of ER10 is amazing. Really creamy and nutty, like an almond butter.
