Had a beautiful dinner with the wife. 2 years, and what a 2 years, a house, a beautiful German Shepherd and now a beautiful baby boy. Anniversary dinner with the wife at Chops (always first class, food, service, everything).

None the less after our Manhattens, Sazeracs, Barolo, I enjoyed a 4RSmBLE to finish the meal.

1st experience out with a baby, so we got home about the time we were enjoying our second course last year. Poured some HHSS and watched a Christmas movie with the with.

Life is good, even better when rounded out with good bourbon and spectacular food.

After waxing poetic, a little advice, if Otis Redding's White Christmas isn't on your Dec playlist, add it now.

Congrats!! What neighborhood did you end up in?

Thanks. Richmond Beach in Shoreline. Big change from Fremont but with two kids we need something more functional and for the long haul. I lucked out because the seller turned an old bomb shelter room (house was built in the early 60s) into a wine cellar, which will henceforth be known as the whiskey cellar.

Awesome! Both the location AND the whiskey cellar. We looked in Richmond Beach - very nice neighborhood - but ultimately ended up in Kenmore.

Sounds like a great night. Congrats on the anniversary

EWB '03 neat then Ezra Brooks on ice while watching SEC Championship.

SEC trivia question: What two things do Gary Pinkel and Nick Sabin have in common?

A:They were team mates at Kent State; they were both head coaches at U. of Toledo. Go Rockets!

Enjoying pours at a local bar, Old Rip 10yr for $7.50 and GTS, WLW, and Sazerac for $11.00 each.

Finished the one and only bottle of WLW and working hard to do the same with the GTS.

Having some HM 10y BIB (has to be the best bourbon for the money) while getting my fire pit ready to cook some ribeyes on tonight.

Spending the weekend at the lake house in the north ga mountains hiking with my dog. Wife and kids in Texas for a wedding. Amazingly the ingles has usda prime steaks at a reasonable price so I fired up the grill. After I stuffed my face I got into the HHSS2. It's so good when it hits your lips.

Mrs Gonzo just brought me two pours. One is B25, the other is 2014 GTS. I don't know which is which, but I feel these are the 2 best pours released this year and I wanted to find out which one takes the crown.

Nice - definitely two heavyweights there! Look forward to hearing who wins the match (besides you that is!)

Four Roses night. Started with a pour of Crown 2014 FR BS OESF. I have heard rumor that it came from the same area that this year's LE SB's did. If so, the LE must be pretty good because this one has held up well from the 1st pour until its current state, about 1/4 left. To be honest, I have been pleasantly surprised because the F recipe can be hit or miss. Very unique nose and flavor for bourbon.

Followed up with Crown 2013 FR BS OBSK. This one was the 2014 SF World Competition winner, for what that is worth. It is a nice step up in rye flavor. I think the V and K recipes are my favorites so this one hits closer to my wheelhouse which is why I have sampled it sparingly. I just added an OBSK to the bunker so I thought I would enjoy this one tonight.

Now that's a good sbs. Look forward to your results.

I started the night '14 WLW - my third pour. It's really opening up now and I'm getting closer on my water ratio. Started to sing tonight, albeit with a little crack in the voice. It's getting close to going off. I'm following it up with some '14 Stagg. Brilliant right out of the gate. Still my favorite bourbon.

Gary you are right about that. I won. Two fantastic bourbons. As blinds usually do I was surprised. The slight edge goes to the GTS. I've been trumpeting the B25 all year but the GTS had a slightly bigger and robust flavor. I love them both, but tonight the GTS takes the crown. Can't go wrong with either though. I am going to have to track down another GTS now. :-)

OGD114...seemed a little hot to me. Added about 1/8tsp of water...definitely opened up. I normally drink all my bourbon neat, but this one requires a little h20.

Amen brother. After those two pours and the Bourbon County I had earlier, I win. Hahahaha
