had a nice pour of ETL, and not really feeling it. Maybe I'm just off tonight but I feel like my tastes have gotten to where I need something a bit higher in rye content to enjoy, hopefully wont last forever, ETL was the first bourbon to really turn me on to the good stuff.

Last night was EWSB04 in a Solo cup by the fire pit handing out candy in the coldest, most rain and wind drenched Halloween in recent memory.

Last night I started with a huge pour of OGD BIB. Then finished off with another huge pour of ECBP. Both bottles are now empty heading to the recycling bin.

FRSmB while watching the Ken Burns series on Prohibition...
Now that's a scary choice for Halloween horror movie. Lot scarier than Freddie Krueger.

Various mingles of FRSB OBSK & OESO. Preferred the 2:1 ratio of OBSK:OESO, but not a bad one in the bunch.

A miscellany:

George Dickel No. 12: Vanilla fudge and a clean, natural straight whiskey taste. No maple charcoal evident that I can tell. Zero vitamins taste, which hopefully is harbinger of a turn of the corner for the brand. Very worthy and commendably different from the one people associate 99% of the time with Tennessee, Jack Daniel.

Eagle Rare 10: Current bottling, rich and complex, good wooded notes, no off-notes such as dried river water. The real deal. Better than the same brand 10 years ago, IMO.

Woodford Reserve: Strong "cookie dough", i.e., the taste of relatively young spirit courtesy I assume the triple pot still system. Not something I can drink neat/rocks. However, it makes a useful addition to my current Manhattan cocktail vat.

Grass Widow Bourbon: This is I understand a sourced straight bourbon from Two James, the craft operation in Detroit, and finished in a Madeira wine cask. Very creditable with good, matured flavours and a touch of sweet in the finish although one wouldn't know the wine-finishing unless told in advance, I believe. A little rough in the finish but that's in line with the Detroit ethos, eh? Very happy with this.

Enjoying a HHSS 2014 on ice as a watch some NBA hoops. Usually not a rocks kind of guy but can say that it does not detract and is definitely a different experience vs having it nea.

Had baby boot camp all day today. First real fall cold front of season finally came through, temps only in 60s today, so got first fire of season going. Got college football going. Starting with some EC21.

Last time I had no. 12, I enjoyed it. Lots of vanilla notes. The most recent bottle of ER10 I had was pushing the oak hard. Hard but pleasant.

As for me, a pour of Larceny followed by OGD114.

Really jazzed about a 4R PS OBSK 12yrs old I just picked up today. Not sure I'm fully appreciating it as I'm still fighting the crud from that cold I picked up a week ago, but I couldn't wait to crack it.

Sipping on a 2011 Blanton's myself. Still a favorite.
