Willett 6 Indiana Rye with new foil top at $70.

Single bottle on the shelf picked it up, expensive for what it is.

Was at a Hy-Vee yesterday, they actually have a pretty good selection. Didn't see anything I couldn't live without (I'm being a bit more selective lately as there's really no more room in the bunker), but looked behind the counter on my way out and saw a Wild Turkey Diamond high on the shelf. I've had it, think it's an elegant pour but ultimately not worth the price they've been charging. But this one had a price tag below it of $68.99. Stopped to ask the clerk about it, heck I'd grab it for that, but she looked up and said the price tags were switched on two of the bottles on the top shelf. They wanted $137, or something in that range. Thanks, but no thanks.

Same store had an EC23 for $199; I think that's the best price I've seen on that bottle. Another pass for me though.

Yeah, here in Indy, the rye is $89 and the cask strength $159. The first release or two of the rye were not placed on the shelf. The most recent release was and has been sitting there for a while. Not sure about the cask strength. I have seen it at a few stores but it wasn't on the shelf.

The regular AE is everywhere. It seems like every store has their own blend or two or three.

Was that the 2014? I was offered one for $179 in Chicago but passed...based on my enjoyment of regular AE and the 2013 aECS, I would probably pounce at $139...but any higher than that seems egregious

It's 59 here. I've been thinking about picking up a bottle pretty soon.
The mouth feel is a bit thin, but otherwise it is an outstanding pour. It also makes fantastic Manhattans for special occasions. I'd buy it a couple times a year at $59.

Passing up Lost Prophet for $150 at Total Wine. I thought Rhetoric was a stretch at $120 so this one really goes too far.

I think the private selections still have the 10 year/single barrel bands and the standard bottling does not.

I can't see Sazerac/BT going back to the age stated. This was probably one that was either picked a while back, or is actually ten years old. Regardless, $28 is a pretty good price on the ER 10. The cheapest I've seen it around here is $32. I'd say that for $28, it's worth a try.

FWIW, I've had quite a few PS ER 10's over the years. Most were quite good, and a couple were outstanding. There was only one that I bought that I thought was a bit sub par.

Did the age statement go away or just move to the back?

I rarely venture into a liquor store these days, but the other day I did... I passed on some things I haven't seen in Utah before: Hudson Baby Bourbon, WT Forgiven, WT Diamond Anniversary. It was kind of sad to see what passes for exciting releases these days.

The 10 yr age statement just moved to the back. The single barrel designator went away, except with store selects, obviously.

Passed on the new Jim beam 375mls, including the winter wheat. And a Michter's 20yr for $450.

Passed on a GTS for 450. I tried to tell the manager that's more than even secondary but he claimed that was secondary price right after Christmas. Not sure where he was checking, but it sounds like he cherry-picked a nice high price.

Went to a store's glass case to ask for a RRSmBSB (which was on sale for $46) and saw a bottle of ORVW10 for $140. I mentioned it to the employee and he said they had several (?) and were putting them out one at a time. I'm sure a handful of people will be excited that they bought "the last one!"

W12 at $40. I have 3/4 of a bottle at home and too many other bottles to finish. I guess $40/bottle is where we're at now. My buddy bought it because he's never had his own bottle.

Passed on some WTKS from '09. Thought it was '04 at first and got excited because my last bottle was from that year and was fantastic. Also passed on some old WT101 Rye because I'm already stocked on it with an open bottle and 2 more in the wings.

10% of Binny's today but passed on Stagg Jr., new Four Roses private barrel selections, HW MWND, CEHT BP, and probably about 10 others

I did pick up a Rittenhouse BiB, Weller 107 Binny's single barrel, and Angel's Envy Binny's blend. Been buying to much lately and need to keep things in perspective, especially since I already have bottles of the above.

Passed on a Lost Prophet at $200, tons of Stagg Jr at $50, and a couple new NDPs that I haven't seen before.

Passed up on WP @ $80 (not a terrible price), Forgiven @ $49 and WFE 2 yr rye (still hanging around) @ $39ish. For now, it appears that the MMCS flood has subsided. Hopefully, it will make another appearance in the near future.

Saw more Lost Prophet today, but this time at $120.

Also passed on some good sales, just because I was there to buy other stuff. CEHT SB for $60, Blantons for $46, and a Whistle Pig store select at $60.
