Rebel Reserve

Just overheard at my local store that Rebel Reserve is being discontinued. I am not sure if that is through the state or whether through Luxco. Anyone have any info on it? All I could find was an old thread from 2009. At $13.00 a bottle as it will be going on sale tomorrow, I am on the fence whether to buy a handful of them for nostalgic purposes for my collection or just to pass.

IMHO, it ain't very good. Save your money for something better. A little off topic, but the same goes for Old Crow Reserve. :frown:

Just my own personal experience; but I found so little difference between the 'Reserve' and Rebel Yell, that I decided to pass on all the Reserve for the extra cheese. The 'Yell' was a couple bux cheaper, but was also pretty ordinary, though.

This goes back a couple years, so to be fair; it may be dated experience-wise.

My opinion-give it a wide pass. If it's being discontinued then Heaven Hill and Luxco are doing the drinking world a favor. It's crappy HH Od Fitz in another bottle. If it's a wheated bourbon from HH and doesn't say "Larceny" then leave it on the shelf. All my humble opinion of course. You may get different results.

Thanks for the replies. I realized I actually have a bottle after I posted this. My stash is getting a little unorganized I guess. Time to reinventory everything.

I believe I saw a new bottling of Rebel Reserve in a tall, slim bottle (generic shape). Seems strange that they would change the bottle shape right before discontinuing the line. They're asking a few bucks over $20/750, so it's not on my buy list.

I know the regular Rebel Yell is in a bottle shaped like you said. The reserve is in a bottle shaped more like a Weller bottle.

I ended up buying two bottles and by going in stumbled into buying two bottles of Tom's foolery. I came out ahead one way or another.
