Good Whisky Bar/Restaurant in Detroit Area?

Hello,

I will be in the Bloomfield Hills area next week for a few days and was wondering if there is anywhere decent for Whisky. Either a bar or restaurant. I will also be downtown Wednesday for the Wings game so any downtown recommendations would be awesome too!

I believe that Cornerstone Barrel House in downtown is open and serving drinks now, although I haven't had the chance to stop in yet (I work downtown but was recently told that I will be working from home for the next 6 months, so it may be a bit since I don't make it downtown much outside of work.) The Oakland in Ferndale has a great whiskey selection...had a 13 OFBB and ECBP there a few weeks ago...but is definitely overpriced (both the OFBB and ECBP were $18 a pour and Pappy 23 is something like $120 a pour). It had a cool speakeasy atmosphere though and great service. One Eyed Betty's in Ferndale also has a good bourbon selection, although I haven't been there myself. I love in the city near the Ferndale border so I don't have a lot of knowledge about what is around further out in the Suburbs.

If you are looking for a great meal I would look at Giovanni's in South Detroit - http://www.giovannisristorante.com/ They also have Pappy that is not overpriced.

For just drinks you have some other choices-

Two James has a really cool bar- http://twojames.com/ and is the first distillery to open in Detroit since prohibition.

Detroit City Distillery just opened and is in the Eastern Market area- http://detroitcitydistillery.com/ and if you go here there is a great pizza place here- http://supinopizzeria.com/

If you want to venture out to Ann Arbor there are things like- The Raven's Club, The Last Word and The Alley Bar that all have great cocktails and great whiskey selections.
