I get full on Flintstone chewable vitamins on the palate for the bottle of Dickel in my cabinet. I am certain that I would find the same even in a blind tasting.

I agree, I get the same exact thing. I have a Dickel 9-year Barrel Select and I can't drink.

I think it is a feature, since they want their product to be different from the others out there. If it were a bug, I have to believe they wouldn't sell it.

Honestly it could just be a sensitivity thing for some people like the cilantro/soap aversion. I just know that it hits me hard so I steer clear.

Not an editorial comment on those who enjoy Dickel products. Our palates are different, that's all.

I get what I call a "horse stable" taste from Dickel. I'm guessing that is what people refer to as vitamins. I've never been good about putting flavors to words.

I get something similar from Dickel, not sure of horse stable or vitamins,but I can relate,definitely a bug.This is one I just can't tolerate.I'll also second the not good at putting flavor to words thing.

You have hit an interesting point with the sensitivity thing.

I agree with it being a feature, it differentiates their product.

As much as I do occasionally enjoy a GD12, its not something I reach for when Im in a bourbonish mood, infact I kinda overloaded in its character a while back and havent touched it six months, warrants a revisit.

I really do not like Woodford Reserve or OFBB. To me, they all have an off-putting bitterness that I just can't get past. I've tried various iterations in the past, but now I just avoid all of their products. There's too much out there for this dislike to even be a blip on the radar so I don't feel I'm missing out on too much

In Woodford Reserve I notice a cherry cough syrup taste that i just can't stand.

I recently learned I don't care for big black peppercorn notes as I found in the 2014 4RSBLE.

Another one I learned is that I like brunt brownie. We debated this with my friends who didn't like it and said that's why I like Booker's 25th.

All the Beam ryes taste funny to me, and not in a good way. They remind me of gamey well water from a farm. I also get an aftertaste like peanut shells or skins.

Thinking about the title of this thread made me think of the old joke:

"Waiter, there's a fly in my soup!"

Maybe "fault" is a better word than bug.

I may not be able to tell the brand on most blind tastings, but a DIckel product is easily picked out. You guys know I'm a fan though

Definitely get the vitamin thing in Dickel but I enjoy it. And I've missed the bananas in recent bottles of VOB, but I have a handle of pre-Sazerac VOB BIB bunkered. Don't care for the Beam funk, but I like the BT grass. Different strokes ...

Another vitamin taster checking in, but I actually like it, it's an earthy minerally character, and definitely a feature in my opinion.

Reading this while at the bar inspired me to try a no. 8 for the first time. Definitely get the vitamin taste people talk about.

I bought a bottle of McKenna 10 that was a store selection a few weeks ago. It was delicious, but there was a distinct peanut flavor. It wasn't bad, exactly, but it was a little distracting. Like, hey, you got your peanut butter in my bourbon!

I have a bottle of Masterson's Rye from TPS that was finished in (presumably used) American Oak. Not sure what was in the finishing barrel to begin with but it gave the rye and fascinating candied orange/pine needle/sassafras tea flavor that I really enjoyed. Definitely a feature and not a bug to me!

I never noticed the Beam funk, and still really don't. Dickel, though....I can see why they call it "vitamins"; it reminds me of the brewer's yeast tablets my mom made me eat when I was a kid. But even that doesn't put me off so much as just slow me down a little.
