Hey guys,

Not too many bourbons left that aren’t going with the SB version, there are some , which would you like to see as a SB? Me it would be any of the 3 b’s by JB, Booker’s , Basil, and Baker’s. MMM I'd be all over that.... Yours?

Heaven Hill has done EC12 as single barrel. Let's see them do the same with ECBP

I would like to see a Single Barrel version of Eagle Rare 10 . . . Bazinga! Anyway, I would very much like to see 100 proof as the cultural standard minimum for single barrel bourbon. Barrel proof would obviously be welcome, too. Additionally, I'd love to see distillers/producers work with stores in terms of proof on a store select. That would be another cool way for stores to distinguish themselves from the rest.

single barrel not always top choice. if they cherry pick best, where goes the rest? sometimes one buys a single barrel and gets a great one, or not so great. and sometimes a single barrel could use a little help from its buds to become more interesting.

not a big fan of inconsistences.....so I could do without any single barrel bourbons. if everything went single barrel, i dont see much point for having master distillers, and i kinda like their skill in keeping a profile and knowing that last years bottle I enjoyed will taste like the one five years from now.

The store you just bought your FR barrel sections from is waiting on an ER 10 barrel they selected (they also did one two years go which was great).

They are the standard proof.

Personally, I'd like to see a single barrel barrel strength Old Forester. I've had a chance to taste the cherry barrels they send to Woodford from the barrel. It's wonderful bourbon. Enough Orphan barrel crap, just give us good bourbon right from the barrel!!!

Booker's 25th is a single barrel bourbon. Pretty tasty too, but overpriced IMO.

Actually, I'd very much enjoy Orphan Barrel bourbon released as single barrels at barrel proof.

D, think this the next time you see and rue the dropping of an age statement. Many times they're being dropped to help the MD achieve the very consistency you covet.

ECBP as a SB would be interesting, although the variation we're seeing from batch to batch would only be exacerbated in a SB product. I honestly don't buy a ton of SB products, in part due to the variation. What I would love to see are more options for private selection SBs. After trying the latest PHC, I'd love to see a barrel-proof Bernheim SB product.

For the most part, I don't get super excited for most SB offerings. With that being said I really love 4RSB, but probably not for the reasons most people love SB offerings. It's just darn good bourbon and oddly enough I don't find alot of variation between the bottles I've had from separate barrels.

I've tried a couple bottles of EWSB and thought they were better than EWB, but was that because they were SB or because they were +/- 10 yrs old (versus whatever "extra aged" is?)

I'd prefer to see more barrel proof offerings, honestly.

I'm indifferent to the idea of any current brand going SB, with the recent exception of what Dickel did with the 9 year which I much prefer over the standard Barrel Select.

I am however a big fan of the single barrels selected by retailers - some of these have been fantastic value and usually cost the same as the standard brand. I'll buy these blind from a retailer with whom I've had past success. There are quite a few I wish I had purchased at least two - once they are gone they are gone for good.

In the past couple of years, this mechanism has allowed for OWA's that are 7/107 and while I didn't have the original to compare to, these have been head and shoulders above the NAS over the same time period. Standard Buffalo Trace between 9 and 10 years have also been winners - these typically have offered more spice than the standard bottling.

I've also purchased EWSBs and HMcK 10 BIBs as NCF; in the McKenna example a high floor and a lower floor version - really interesting and educational to try these side by side.

These programs have to be operationally difficult to manage for a high volume distiller and I think it is terrific they continue to offer these SB options.

Are you sure? I don't think so , it's just aged a bit longer than the standard juice. I have 2 of them and nowhere on the label does it say it's a SB, but I could be wrong.

I think you're on....standard Booker's is one of the "small batch collection" bourbons. I think the 25th is also a SmB mingling of limited select barrels blended for a similar release profile.

I like small batch uncut, unfiltered barrel proof bourbons. To much variance from barrel to barrel. batching it gives it a pretty consistent profile.

Hmm. Put me in the camp with people who aren't generally impressed with the SB concept.

More important is that there's some great whiskey in there...

The thing I don't like about SB offerings is that when you get something you don't like, it's hard to tell if it was just the barrel, or if it's the true character of the offering you find disagreeable. For me, a good example is EC 18. I had to have two bottles of it to assure myself that I didn't actually like it. I'd rather have been able to find out on Bottle #1!

Right and if you find a bottle you do like what are the chances you will find another bottle from the same barrel?
