Right and if you find a bottle you do like what are the chances you will find another bottle from the same barrel?

Poor if the barrel number is not indicated on the bottle as is the case with some so called single barrel offerings. After all the term has no real legal definition or requirement so I have little confidence it means anything in cases where a barrel number isn't listed.

It also shows the value of tasting right away with a single barrel bottle that is numbered. If you like it you might have a better chance of finding the same barrel if you go back to the same store or area right away and buy what you can find because chances are you aren't going to find it again months down the road.

I know you have to open reasonably soon if you want an opportunity to buy again - but, after all, how many multiples of BTACs or other LEs do you get a chance to buy? Once those are drained, they are only memories, but folks still jump at the chance to buy one. Given the expense, if you are buying a store pick single barrel from a retailer whose picks you've had good luck with, buy 2, it will still be less than the typical limited edition.

I agree, I just enjoy it for what it is with no real expectation of finding another just like it.
