Got a few. Corsair Triple Smoke not good, i was completely put off by stagg jr. Have tried to make it drinkable and cant. Made myself finish a bottle of woodford double oak, just didnt care for it. And finally the white dogs, just what the name implies, dogs. I too was just eager to see what they were about and ended up with all 3 BT versions, HW, and 2 jd clear ryes.

Interesting thread...

I guess it depends on what you mean by regret buying. Doesn't taste good to you? overpriced? tastes have changed?

I gave away two bottles of whiskey so far because I just didn't like them. Bookers and Glenmorangie Nectar. I will probably give away my bottle of 2014 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon as well at some point.

I have a couple of bottles of higher aged whiskeys that I don't drink that much mainly because I realized I prefer ones with a little bite and they are almost too smooth for me. I will keep them, though, because I like them when I am in the mood for it (example: Highland Park 25).

Everyone has different tastes, I guess.

Old Overholt. Turned me off Rye for a few months. Mint explosion!

Lots of bartenders recommend this as a house rye and for mixing when Rittenhouse and Bulleit for slightly more money are significantly better.

I like Rye as a hot weather drink, OO....nope, just didn't do it for me. Granted, maybe it's designed more for cocktails and I poured over ice?

Not many. A bottle of Benchmark comes to mind, and a bottle of Firefly Sweet Tea Bourbon that was likely made with Benchmark as its base.

Other than bottom shelf bottles, which I never buy anymore, the only bottle I ever hated and had trouble drinking was Bulleit bourbon. Their rye is good, though/

I'm not sure I regret buying them...although a bottle of masterson's rye comes to mind that if I had it to do over again, I'd try it elsewhere and not have bought the bottle I did. tasted like Yukon Jack.

Bill's post does remind me that I do regret buying baby Saz. I learned I don't like rye whiskey; should have tried a rye at a bar first since the bottle just sits idly on my bar now.

Not too many come to mind... Stagg Jr. not getting much use, except as a coffee helper- I have no endorsement for Woodford reserve, just never warmed up to it. hmmm... didn't like the last bottle of Hart Bros. Clynelish 14 yo Scotch much.

For the most part, if I end up not liking it, I'll give it away or cook with it. either way it's not a killer- I just remember to not go there again.

I did not buy this bottle but my buddy bought the Wasmund's Single Malt Whisky. I regret tasting it if that counts for anything. I think he regrets the 40+ dollars he spent on that bottle.

Many moons ago, I purchased a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue as a present to myself when I left the Navy. It was enjoyed in good company, but I remember being so very disappointed and underwhelmed by it.

Yeah, there's nothing necessarily "bad" about Johnnie Walker Blue, but there's really nothing to justify its price tag either.

Woodford Double Oaked, that stuff was terrible. In fact just put me down for everything Woodford. I even regret it when it's my only option on a Delta Flight.

Old Medley 12 year is the only bottle I have regretted purchasing, mainly because I was actually expecting something good and it wasn't.

Everything else I've purchased is more of a "wouldn't buy again", but not regretting the decision, especially in SBS tastings and in different "environments" (neat, ice, water, cocktails) to really understand what I like and don't like about bourbon. It's impossible to get that out of a bar pour, I need the entire bottle to experiment. :)

Oh, and every craft whiskey. Some aren't bad, but all are overpriced.

OGD 80, 86 and 100. I love 114 but I found the other three foul and never bought them again.

I enjoy both OGDBiB and 114, but the other two are not worth my time.

Everything that says 'Woodford' on the label; especially if it says; "Master's Collection".

I've tried three different ones before I realized that it's far better to have not banged one's head against a wall, than to feel slightly better upon stopping said activity. :smiley_acbt:

ugh, where to even start...(keep in mind this was over the past 4 years)

Black Maple Hill NAS

High West Bourye

Michter's Toasted Barrel

Rowan's Creek

Noah's Mill

OGD 114

OGD BIB

Wathan's Single Barrel

Evan Williams Single Barrel 2002-2004

Templeton Rye

Whistle Pig

Masterson's Rye

Hirsch Collection 20 year

Almost much every dusty I've tried

Willett Pot Still

Prichard's Double Barrel

Michter's Small Batch

Corsair Triple Smoke

I'm sure there's more, but those are off the top of my head. Win some, lose some I guess. Some times you gotta take risks to find out what you *don't* like.

Interesting in that I didn't buy a single bottle on this list.
