Charles Goodnight Bourbon ??

Planning to order a bottle of High West American Prairie reserve from Caskers online. They also sell Charles Goodnight $52. Anyone know anything about this or have tried it?

Generic, NAS distilled in Kentucky Bourbon is all I can tell from the label. I understand Goodnight's Great-Grandson is in the wine business but don't know if there's a connection.

$50 - 55 seems to be the common amount for any/all NDP/NAS "craft" bottles.

Oooooh, Good idea! They are, in nearly all cases, rather far from what I would expect in $40 to $60 bottles of Bourbon.

That's not to say I don't wish the crafters well.... I just don't care to over-spend at that rate for very ordinary (or not even that good) whiskey. Just my opinion.

Hmmm, Charles Goodnight 6yo and 100 proof at $50, vs the Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7yr at 99 proof that I purchase for $30 and tastes delicious...

I've read it's about six years old but there's no number on the label. This sounds like a 100 proof version of Old Whiskey River.

This is all about marketing and not what's inside the bottle. It's supposed to be "Kentucky" bourbon inspired by some Texas ranger and bottled in California. Its owned by Bob Foley who made his millions in either real estate or banking then moved on to the CA wine biz making pinot and now he's moving into spirits. No thanks.
