Really cool Old Grand-Dad designer labels - student design project

I was searching for different OGD labels, and came across this link:

This student used OGD as the basis for a commercial design project where he redesigned and repositioned the whiskey through newer, updated labels. The OGD 114 labels and bottle he designed are actually pretty great, in my opinion. I found it interesting to see what a different take would be. Beam ought to hire this guy!

They certainly are cooler than the creepy Joe Biden new OGD labels.

Got to admit that is one neat looking bottle and label. Agreed that Beam should take a look at this student's work!

Seems a little bland and easy to get lost on the shelf. That orange label is pretty easy to find!

And I don't need a fancy display box for any whiskey, especially if it adds to the cost. Definitely not needed for OGD!

I get a gin "feel" from the bottle, but I like it. Nice little project for a student, who clearly had excellent taste to begin with.

While a great job, its not my style. I prefer OGD's kitschy packaging.

Very nicely done, though I agree it gets a little lost. I think it would be very easy to add some of the recognizable orange to that label and make it pop.

Basically looks like he took inspiration from the St. George Gins, Absinte, and Malt bottles and combined it with a dollar bill. Very trendy, but I doubt liquor stores are going to want a $26 bottle of OGD114 taking up 3/4 of their shelf in that packaging.

I'd think he would want to correct the grammatical errors on the back before submitting that for a grade...but otherwise, I like the "look and feel."

Yeah, he doesn't even use the word "craft" once!

It looks great. I was going to say that the OGD 114 loses the brand identity that the current bottle has, but then again the current bottle is pretty different than the BIB or 80 proof... The "money" bottle makes the whiskey look a lot more upmarket!

I like the shape of the bottle and how the main label wraps around one side. Jazz up the actual label and the designer could be on to something

Didn't notice that, what I find visually appealing and different than Orphan Barrel is that the label is small enough to allow you to see more of the liquid inside and details of the glass. I guess I'm more of minimalist when it comes to labels - BTAC are the best IMO

My mind was just blown. Conspiracy theory: Diageo stole the orphan barrel bottle design idea from this unappreciated marketing guru.

I agree, the label seems to highlight the liquor in the bottle rather than trying to draw attention to itself
