Been a lot of conversation on the site about it. Run a search or check the rye forum for more info.

Overall, I think you'll find a lot of folks including myself enjoy it, but find the price of $70 to be too much for the product in the bottle.

Around here the going rate has jumped up to $90.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I'ts pretty good, but I prefer the Town Branch for 1/2 that price. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Probably about half the age (TB is NAS but reportedly about 4yo and CEHT is also not stated but guessed to be 8-9yo like the Bourbons in the series) and considerably less rye content (reportedly 55% rye compared to the unknown but theorized 90ish% rye in CEHT). And at around $50 it isn't half the cost if the CEHT rye is still available at around $70. Haven't looked locally recently but that was the last price I remember seeing for it. Haven't tried Town Branch but have tried and like the CEHT rye.

But $90 seems more than excessive for CEHT. TPS is currently showing $66 for the CEHT and $50 for Town Branch. If I had to pick one it is an easy choice for me despite the cost difference even without having tried the TB, I am taking the CEHT. The overall track record at Alltech has been spotty at best.

I'm a big fan of CEHT rye. I don't love many ryes but this is one I could always drink and enjoy. Like others, the price gives me pause. If I see it a $70, it's an easy buy. At $80+ I will pass and instead look for Willett 4yr or Old Scout 7-8 yr for much less.

The Town Branch is $47 here and I have found it to be consistent. On the other hand, I do not care for their bourbon at all.

Taylor is a good rye, but not 90 good IMO. And Bruce is correct, TB mash bill is 55 rye, 30 corn and 15 malted barley.

I opened a bottle of the TB and Taylor earlier this year and drank them together for uhhhh....research, yes scientific research.

I have a bottle open now. I really enjoy it. I will qualify I only bought the bottle because a local shop had dropped it to $59. I feel like that may even be a little high but I would probably buy another at that price given the current conditions. At $70-$90 I would steer clear.

I agree that its delicious but what sparked me to buy it was that it was on sale for $60.

For nearly the same price, I prefer THH but the CEHT is good and find it to be sweeter those other Ryes Ive tried.

I do/did enjoy the CETH rye but to my taste it's not $50 better than Baby Saz or $60 better than RITTBIB. Shoot after the last couple of pours it's not $40 better than 13th Colony.

I thought the TB stood up well to the Taylor. Just different, as the Taylor was sweeter and smoother. I went back and forth many time over which I preferred, but no doubt the Taylor is made in the traditional style with plenty of earthy/barnyard dirt floor goodness.

My favorite 95% rye is Dickel. MGP assembly line, big batch consistent production at a fair price. Sadly, the Ritt is jumping up into the 28-31 range here. It just seems like yesterday that it was hanging around on the bottom shelf in the mid to high teens.

So, I'm at the point where I'm just trying them all! CEHT at 65 or less...I'd be all over it. Above that, too many others toys to play with.

^^ Pretty much all of this. I bought mine at TPS over Thanksgiving 2012, before it was widely distributed, for ~$70, iirc. It's been in Texas for a while now, but still at ~$70. It was tasty, though I haven't bought a second bottle, since Baby Saz is <$30 near me (and Bulleit is usually something like $20).1a02801384fa9af2679543d11807b818.jpg. Here's the bottle code w/ add'l details, for the one I bought.

Although using my TPS yardstick Ritt is now up to a scandalous $27 and out of stock!

Sadly, a sign of the times... :skep:

Wow $27! It is $21.99 here after being $19.99 for the past year.

There are very few whiskeys I'd pay $70 for, but I paid that or nearly that for my EHT BIB rye. It's easier to get hold of then the barrel strength Handy, which is a different mashbill. (BT of course does not disclose mashbills, but the EHT label mentions that it is not made from their usual rye mashbill, and that the mashbill from which it was made contains no corn.)

That being said, there's something about BT ryes that I find just lovely - when I can find them. I haven't seen Baby Saz in years, and Handy is also difficult to locate. I can at least walk into my neighborhood place and get a bottle of EHT rye.

I like CEHT Rye, but I paid $60 for mine. I would not pay $90 for the stuff.

Sad to say, I haven't tasted it in quite a while, so I can't comment on it other than it was nicely spicy and very tasty.
