It's Houston's "flagship" liquor store.
Lepisto
I was on a business trip there recently and stayed at the Westin Galleria. I was on a mission to find Weller 12, and found a location about 5 miles west of the hotel called Goody Goody. It took about 30 minutes to get there by car because of rush hour, and following the GPS I ended up on a toll road that only had the fast pass meters and my rental was not properly equipped. I must of blown through 6 of them on my way there and back.

Heck, you could have walked to a store from the Westin Galleria for a bottle.
Lepisto
Yeah, I had heard it was everywhere. This was a store I found online that listed the # of bottles they had. I was traveling with others and they weren't too thrilled joining me on my bourbon hunting. I needed the sure thing. Got 4 of the 7 bottles on the shelf. After talking to 4 or so stores....The Store(s) manager(s) had put these to the side. Brother-In was kind to send these my way. And Yes...1 store is Specs...No more coming there way...Also had picked-up 5 Weller Special Reserve (Cases of this stuff).
davidg07
Any recommendations within walking distance?"Walking distance" can mean wildly different things to different people. I don't know about walking distance any better than you could Google, but Tony K's on Bissonnet has a great whiskey selection, and they're great people. Even with rush hour traffic, they're not a long drive North on Hwy 59 from the Galleria area.Closer to the Galleria, Spec's and Richard's (which is owned by Spec's) are all over the place. Even if you don't go their marquee store downtown, most of their locations will have some variety.
Houston_TX
I think Tony K's would be a good one to visit as I believe they are a FR private barrel selection on hand right now (call to confirm, I could be misremembering).
smknjoe
That's a good one, walking distance. There is no such thing in Houston really. 1. You will need a car. 2. Google "liquor store" when you get here, click on "maps" at the top of the Google page, and you will find dozens within a few miles of where you are. Weller 12 and Old Weller Antique are 2 that you will have a hard time finding in other parts of the country. However, they are wheated bourbons not ryed bourbon or straight rye whiskey. I can't think of any straight ryes that are unique to this region really. You should be able to find Rittenhouse BIB and Sazerac (baby saz) fairly easily around here.Edit: ...and if there is only one store you have time for go to the Spec's Downtown location like the other guys suggested. OBSO, 10yrs 5mos. I was in there on Saturday, and I believe they had a few bottles left, but not many. They also had several different High West products, going back to the OP's interest in ryes. Otherwise, I wasn't specifically looking for rye, so I can't speak to what else they might have.
