Since I don't have any family members who'd really put in the time and effort required to find a bottle I want (and don't already have) at a reasonable price, I've provided them with a list of whiskey related items.

Admittedly, most of them are quite gimmicky, but that's what Christmas is about, right?

I noticed at the liquor store today that they had a Woodford Reserve gift box that had a glencairn in it. It might make me actually buy Woodford.

I axed the fat guy to bring me some Glencairns, and maybe even a bottle of Booker's.

I am pretty sure axing the fat man will put you on the naughty list!

Don't forget these! They work amazingly well.

I actually have a set of these, along with one of those King Cube ice trays, from last Christmas.

Basil Hayden has one with a muddler and bar spoon that looked pretty decent.

And on a side note, the JD Holiday Select is a single Barrel this year.

I asked for one of those fancy Four Roses barrel heads with the painted roses from the FR gift shop. I'm absolutely certain that santa wife will gift me something practical like cooking accouterments instead. Oh, and a daughter.

Haha, the drinkwel capsules are interesting. Might have to look into a bottle of those... have you tried 'em?

That is about the only one in the OP that I wouldn't bother with. I would rather save the money to buy more whiskey!

I'm giving copies of "Tasting Whiskey" by Lew Bryson to the whiskey drinkers on my list.

That one is certainly on my list! And it is probably good one to give as well so will have to give that some thought.

For those looking to save some cash, but wanting a selection of glencairns for larger tastings, I tried out the bellemain glasses from amazon...$18.90 (prime price) for 6, and they're nearly identical to the glencairn. The base just feels ever so slightly more rounded or something....http://www.amazon.com/Bellemain-Oz-Whisky-Glass-Set/dp/B00IAVQMCG/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1416509709&sr=1-6&keywords=glencairn

Four Roses Christmas gift sets this year are a 1B with two nice drinking glasses. Not a bad deal for the regular price of 4R1B!

I saw a WT 101 gift set with a bottle plus a glass boot. Also saw a KC with a bottle of Small Batch and a mini each of rye and smoked maple.

Similar to the glasses you get post tour at the distillery?

Not those specifically but in my younger days of being a science minded lush I found that a couple of vitamin b capsules before a big night out on the town made a world of difference the next morning if I decided to be stupid and skip the water rounds.

I'd bet they couldn't hurt, but probably get the same effect a lot cheaper

Or go GBS style and just use tea candle holders. They make mighty fine tasting glasses. Ha!

I rarely shop there any more but last year Sam's Club had some of the better Christmas gift sets. They seemed to have a larger selection.

I already have some great glasses from Buffalo Trace so I am with Doug, as a whiskey drinker, I want whiskey!

Yes, they are identical to the 125th glassware, just say Four Roses on them.

The 4R'd glasses from the last two years are my go to glasses. Glad to see a good thing come back.
