Will Brown Forman ever release any whiskey exclusively made on WF's pot stills?

Without blending it with whiskey from their larger plant? Just curious. Woodford was the first bourbon I ever enjoyed neat. Don't drink much of it now but I think it would be very interesting to try something solely off their pot stills. Has this ever been done?

Yes, there are releases of Woodford only distillate. The problem Brown-Forman faces is they have fallen victim to their own success. By using BF whisky to establish the Woodford brand they created a flavor profile the Woodford stills can't match on their own.

This is not to say the pot still product is worse, or better, or equal, just not the same.

What releases are they? Long time ago or still available out there? Or were these private type things?

There have been a number, a four-grain IIRC, and I tasted too an all-Versailles bottled for Bourbon Bistro in Louisville.

I'll be very honest, my issue is the Versailles stuff, at least at the age it is being released at whether in mingled or sole form, just isn't great. I just bought a regular WR and am very disappointed by the young whiskey taste which I attribute to the pot still element being released at 5 years or so. I think it probably needs 8-10 years to come into its own.

I thought all those oddball releases, 4 grain, wine finished, etc. contained Woodford only distillate but really don't know as I pay little attention to such things.

All the Master's Collection stuff is Woodford, IIRC. Woodford will never be able to produce enough on its own to meet the demand for the standard WR.

That too, Brown-Forman is expanding at Woodford just to keep up with present demand so there's no real incentive to dilute the existing stock with a Woodford only release.

When I was at the Bourbon Affair last year Chris Morris said they will be releasing a Single Barrel Woodford from all Versailles whiskey at some point as a regular offering

I hope that happens.

I heard rumors of a Woodford Reserve Straight Rye Whiskey. What's going on with that and will that be produced at Woodford or by BF?

All of the Master's Collection is 100% Woodford. Nothing else is. An all-Woodford single barrel seems a bit contrary to the brand personality. Even their buy-a-barrel program is always a mingling of two barrels.

Woodford juice is triple-distilled, isn't it? That, plus the long condenser necks of the pot stills, leads me to wonder if Woodford-made whiskey isn't considerably lighter in body and texture than what most of us are used to from Old Forester distillate.
