... PIE FLAVORED LIQUEUR! Say what? There's no thread on Piehole Whiskey yet? Apple pie! Pecan Pie! Cherry Pie! Whiskey!!!

The folks from Diageo have outdone themselves with this one - it's got buxom retro pinup girls on the label - and I'm shocked (shocked!) that the Straight Bourbon community hasn't been grabbing this stuff up like it was a pie baked by Pappy Van Winkle himself.

OK, enough with the fun. Flavored whiskey is here. And it's real. And it's not for folks like us. I'll leave it at that.

But if you like Homer Simpson, and the smell of a Bath & Body Works, please feel free to read my full "review" at http://www.thirstysouth.com/2014/12/08/piehole-whiskey-review/

Yeah, this was a topic of a recent blog by Fred Minnick who has been out front in the movement to identify and decry sexism in the spirits biz. I have to confess I don't find the labels to be particularly offensive, unlike the crap in the bottle itself or the recent Dewar's campaign that I thought got appropriately shut down. More tacky than anything else. Look like 50's farm implement calendars to me! But then what do I know? Growing up in the 60's in the South it was hard to avoid blatant sexism so maybe I am guilty of being sexist as a result.

The one in a more recent blog is probably more sexist to me. Date rape in colleges is a real problem and not one that needs to be advertised on liquor bottles. Certainly the label is just as tacky if not more so! And no interest in drinking that one either!

Ah, who gives a rat's patoot. The people who want it will buy it and those who don't won't.

Fred apparently! Can really speak for anyone else other than myself.

I agree with Squire. Some people won't be happy until every model in advertising looks dumpy and plain.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the celebration of beauty and the promotion of things pleasing to the eye. If someone wants to put a Chippendale on an ad for a whiskey, and the whiskey is good, I'll drink it.

I agree with your statement.

Typically, though, great (tasting) products don't usually (need to) resort to that kind of imagery to sell. It is the low shelf, low quality, low price crap that goes that route to appeal to the masses BECAUSE the liquid in the bottle isn't worth the price!

I have no problem with the "cheesecake" on the labels ... am ambivalent regarding the content of the bottles.
