in general, do the restaurants/bars/casinos in vegas have good selections of bourbons, or is it a bourbon wasteland out there?

Most hotels / casinos have a pretty minimal / dismal selection (think he usual suspects: JBW, JD, MM, Beam small batch, etc.) For a broad selection try some of the bars at high-end steakhouses. Two I would recommend you at least visit are Creaftsteak (at the MM) and Delmonico (a the Venetian). Great selection and very knowledgeable staff but, as mentioned, be prepared for high prices.

Both in Caesars. Bobby Flays and Wolfgang Pucks places both had nice selections in June. As did Whiskey Down in the MGM

The Bellagio had an amazing selection when I was there back in 2008. Can't imaging it'd change much. Might be worth checking out.

Got a couple pours of Rittenhouse 21 at the first restaurant into the Forum Shops from Ceasars last year, can't remember the name. That was a "white whale" purchase for me and I was happy to do so even if it was a mighty pricy pour (thankfully the wife did well at the roulette tables and ended up making a profit on the trip!)

Probably Spago. I find pricing in Vegas to be basically in line with how "trendy" a place is representing itself. Most of the bars in the Cosmopolitan were outrageous on anything special. I'll second Delmonico in the Venetian, they had some great bottles and if you went through the list, there were some values. Last time I was there I had a couple pours of the Parkers Heritage 10 Year Wheater from a few years back for $12 a pour while some DBag at the bar explained to me that if I liked wheated bourbon I should try some Pappy. My wife laughed in his face. Table 10 on the Palazzo side typically has some decent pours as well. Only other thing I would say, if you're not sure, ask for the price. I've seen a lot of people caught out in Vegas not realizing what they were signing up for, a pour in one restaurant can be 3-4 times more in another.

On a non bourbon note, may I recommend Bouchon's in the Venetian. Their breakfast/brunch is frigging fantastic, and if you're into Oysters, they have a great selection, great afternoon snack before dinner. If you want to go all in, order their Foie Gras. Their cocktails are also very well made, last time I was there, they had a few nice bottles of bourbon as well, but nothing over the top. The restaurant is associated with the restaurant group that I believe also operates the French Laundry in California.

Going to Vegas the end of this week and was wondering where to look to find some good flights of bourbon. I will be staying in the middle of the strip and don't mine catching a cab to go find good bourbon.

palms casino, the bar in the middle of the gaming room, had the best selection I saw while there. Overall, bourbon selection in Vegas I thought was pretty lacking, so I recommend bringing a bottle of something you like for the hotel room.

The liquor stores have some really good selections, can't speak about the bars, but I'm pretty sure they are stocked up.

Try the lounge at the top of the Stratosphere. Nice bar, but not much more than ordinary offerings to enjoy. However, the view is great! Especially at night.

Cheers and enjoy! Joe

I remember being up there one time and watching a Southwest jet make an approach to the airport. We were looking down on the plane as it went by! Really is an impressive view, day or night.

The mixed drinks and selection at the Encore/Wynn bars sucked. But they randomly amid their crappy selection had baby saz so I enjoyed several pours of that.

We went to Craftsteak at the MGM for dinner one night. They had an overall decent selection but very scotch heavy.

Was there primarily for a meeting so didn't get out much other than that this trip.

Make sure to check out Lees Liquor to bring a few bottles home. (I think that's what its called). You can just get a short bus trip from right near Ballys, maybe 10 minutes in a straight line).

As mentioned already, Lee's Wine & Liquor is the place to go for searching and buying. There are 17 locations in the Las Vegas Area.

As far as bars go, as far back as I can remember, the best places to find the harder to find Bourbons, etc. are the Cigar Bars. The usually have high-end stuff!

I have been going to Vegas twice a year for many years now. I find the bourbon selection to be miserable everywhere except at the high end steakhouses. As for liquor stores, as JF45 mentioned, Lee's has the best selection I have found there. On the other hand, if vodka and tequila are your thing, the selections are overwhelming. Especially the tequila!

Whiskey drinker's nightmare--a huge selection of vodka! (Tequila, on the other hand ....)

There is a bar inside the MGM Grand called Whiskey Down that has a large selection of American Whiskey and Scotch. Most are around $15 a pour. George T Stagg was something like $45. There was Pappy on the menu but I didn't even ask.
