im starting to wonder just how big Harry's trunk really is.....

maybe he's tooling around in a 65 t-bird with a few hundred bottles in the massive trunk

I was thinking the same!

I think Harry's trunk is stocked better than a lot of people's bars.

Not a lot of stores in the WashDC area carry any of the Wellers. One that carries some Wellers every once in awhile usually carries VOB BIB (also rare in WashDC) so I shop there a lot. Yesterday, they had no VOB BIB but plenty of VOB 86. The shelf space usually holding the VOB BIB had lots of OWA and some WLW - on the regular shelves, not in the cabinet. They now have fewer OWAs on the shelf; they also have less ETL SB in the cabinet. Check my car trunk if you wonder where it is.:yum:

Hi Kerry,

Rest assured, Weller Antique is not going anywhere!

Well there you have it, admission from BT itself that OWA is not being shipped anywhere! ;-)

Saw OWA in every store I was in this weekend but not one bottle of Weller 12. Glad I was able to get some last weekend(Weller 12)

Damn! it's $44.99 for 1750 mL in MI.

It is really strange. here in Columbia it goes for $35 - $45 for 1750 ml when you can find it. I don't know if it is a Georgia thing or just Augusta. I usually pick up 6 cases or so when I go down there to off set the gas/time cost. Several of us go in together.

BT/Saz made a big push into Georgia a few years ago with the Weller brand. It had really been a non-factor here for many years prior. They flooded retailers with SR at $9.99 for the 750's and $19.99 for family sized. I still occasionally see $9.99/$19.99 bottles around. Figure it's older inventory from that time, or current inventory that retailer has not increased despite higher distributor pricing. Most places are currently 20-40% higher, reflecting current distributor costs.

Well thats nice for some of you but we cant even get it here in Ohio. WTF is up with that? Yeah this state sucks but all the more reason to send good bourbon here to help us get through it.

Enoch: We must have crossed paths. I also got 6 OWA's in Columbia, plus a few Weller 12's. I thought when I moved back to SC from PA I would get access to much more in the bourbon category, but sadly that is not the way it has played out. I make my best finds in NY nowadays. Anyway always glad to find OWA. It is a steal.

Where in NY if you don't mind me asking.

Man, it's too bad I wasn't into Bourbon when I live in NYC. Then again, the prices would have been astronomical. Now I am in the burbs of NY and the selection is slim.

Smoking Joe: The W.L. Weller SR handle goes for $22.99 all over Augusta, GA. I like it and usually bunker it so that I always have a case back-up.

I don't mind at all. I have seen it frequently in the Buffalo area, but it is all gone right now. I go through there on my way to Canada a couple times a year and can usually find Weller products.

Thanks Burghguy. Unfortunately, Buffalo is a bit far from me. The search continues.

Picked up another bottle of OWA today at local store. She got a case in on Monday. Not putting it out on shelf as she is calling good long time customers to give them 1st crack. Surely pays off to get to know owners of your local stores!

most people put sandbags or concrete blocks in the back to weight it down for winter traction.....harry uses gallons of whiskey

Harry is smart . . . and resourceful.

Indeed. In the event all of that liquid weight isn't enough to gain traction in a slippery situation, he has something to drink while waiting for the tow truck.

If I get stuck, one can only hope it lasts until the truck gets there.

Last week I found a bottle of OWA slid behind the SR in the Kennesaw TW. Other than that I only saw it once in the past 6mos around Atlanta.

It has shown up in small quantities, and then is gone quite quickly, a couple of times in the past 6 months or so in the stores I frequent around town. None to be had at present as best I recall.
