BSS
This is a question for anyone that travels I-64 between Lexington and Frankfort often. Traveling from Frankfort toward Lexington as soon as you cross the Woodford-Scott county line and Elkhorn Creek there is a barn sitting about 300 feet off the interstate to the left. This barn looks almost dead on a small distillery warehouse. Its brick with shuddered windows and it even has a 4 above the door. I don't know about any old distillery's being located in that area, but maybe there was at some point. Has anyone else ever seen or know anything about this barn? jeff
I have seen the building you are describing, but I don't know any more than you about its use or origin. I would imagin it was an aging warehouse for a long defunct distilery that has been converted into a barn or some other agricultural use. Just a guess though. cowdery
I also know the structure in question. I have always assumed it was an old warehouse and I believe, though I'm not positive of this, that at some point I confirmed that fact. In Louisville, I was acquainted with a member of the Wathen family and I think he is the person who confirmed that for me, but it was probably more than a decade ago and my memory on the point is not perfectly clear.
