Merrymash Monk
Been talking a little bit about this bourbon on the "must have" thread. I see it was recently rebranded from Ridgemont Reserve 1792 to just 1792. Wondering if anyone had any info as to if the recipe or aging or any other aspect of the juice itself has changed. I sure hope it hasn't. This is one of my favorites as it is, even though it did loose its age statement a little while ago.
BigBoldBully
I have no hard info, but it seems like it going NAS was quite an omen--and then recently wadewood thought the NAS version was horrible in a blind tasting.
Fullbuck
I have only one more age stated in the bunker. Really enjoy this bourbon for the price. Any others feel the quality took a hit with the removal of the age (8)? I have been working through 4 bottles I purchased in 2013.
Richnimrod
Well, the bottle is a well-conceived and executed 'decanter'. I was never a great big fan of the Bourbon inside, even when it was age-stated.It was never lousy; in fact it seemed to always be carefully made and consistent; just not in a style that hit my preference points. I always did respect that bottle, though.

Enoch
I have never had the NAS. When it was announced I went around and purchased several 1.75s of the 8 year and now it seems I may never taste it if it goes away.

When it was announced I went around and purchased several 1.75s of the 8 year and now it seems I may never taste it if it goes away. The regular NAS isn't going away, just called Small Batch now. I saw the new bottle in North Carolina when was down there a week or so ago. No sign of the SB or CS yet
MikeK
I used to regularly enjoy the 8yo. The NAS isn't horrible, but it is definitely not as good. I don't buy it anymore. Very sad ...
Fullbuck
Found a bottle of (8yo age stated)in 1.75, wasn't trying to buy any bourbon this week, but this thread reaffirms that I should pick it up tomorrow. Only had one left in the bunker and I really find it quite a nice pour.
MyOldKyDram
The new Art Deco bottle + burlap neck band is truly bad design.
BigBoldBully
I have never been a big fan of the bottle shape, but the burlap is cool since you can rest it on a glass and pour like a ninja every time.

dcbt
Haha! This is key when you are sneaking in that one last pour of the night and don't want to announce it with the tell tale *clink* of glass on glass.

Hop
Bought one of these today. I have two of the Old style but those are store selections. If they do this bottle in a 1.75 it would make a very nice decanter

BigBoldBully
Curious to find out if any consensus is developing about the newly released 1792 vs. the age-stated stuff. Personally, I stocked up on the old version and am still too skeptical/pessimistic to try the new.
