Wild1z
You convinced a New Orleans girl to move to the Great White North?!? How did you do that? Good to hear you rediscovered WT101! Even worse, I tricked a Barton Rouge (Gonzales) Girl to move to Siberia. They forgive but never forget. I sleep with one eye opened. I'm pretty excited myself. I'm interested in trying the other WT products as well. In due time.

clindt
WT101 is very inconsistent on my palate. My last bottle of 101 was absolutely fantastic. Bought it in a 1 liter. I'm tempted to go back and buy a couple more from the store I got that one in hopes they are from the same batch. I did a sbs with RB and the 101 won. That being said, I have had some very mediocre bottles too.

I ended up doing a blind sbs with the last of the prior WT101 bottle I had saved in a 50ml, and indeed there is a big difference.
Alden
I "get" the reason why more than a few in the "enthusiast" community have pushed Maker' Mark down on their list of top tier bourbons, but some of the harshly negative reviews of the whiskey itself often leave me perplexed. MM is a bourbon that I could be quite content in drinking exclusively if the circumstances called for such.I agree. Maker's Mark is a very good bourbon. It may not be the very best you can buy, but it's damn good in my book.
burghguy
I'll buy the green label 6yo HH when VOB is not available. It's fine for a daily sipper. Not a cheap swill but which didn't get a lot of love here was VSOF, which I thought was had gotten pretty good during its last three years of availability.I'm in total agreement. Luckily I was able to bunker a case before it disappeared.
mopgcw
It seems like Jim Beam takes a beating around here. Personally I am a Beam fan. No product they make (with the Beam name) is necessarily amazing, yet, they are all budget friendly and get the job done.Beam & Old Overcoat are fond memories of my youth and still have a place at the table. especially listening to certain music and certain times in the evening. good stuff. justataste
I must admit I am rather fond of the 7 year old version of JB white. Easy sipper. Won't break the bank. Sometimes I like to mix it 50/50 with OGD114. A real good sipper on one cube!
gusto16
Then you must try the new (Beam) BIB at 100 proof. I've enjoyed all weekend.I picked one up a few weeks ago - still needs to be cracked open "soon". Edited March 13, 2015 by gusto16

CorvallisCracker
I'm in total agreement. Luckily I was able to bunker a case before it disappeared. You a lucky dawg! Another one I like, that gets little love, is Woodford Reserve. I don't like it enough to spend $35 for a bottle, but I'll occasionally order it in a bar or restaurant. BigBoldBully
Woodford is an interesting case, as I think most people view it as a great premium bourbon (probably due to marketing), whereas it gets a lot of jeers on here. To a lesser extent the same seems true with Booker's. I bought a bottle of Woodford ($30) a while back for a learning experience but have yet to crack it open. I suspect at the very least it will make an interesting addition to vattings.
ken_mays
I see a lot of faint praise directed toward Booker's, but for some reason I really enjoy it. When I'm in the mood for that Beam yeast, there's nothing that hits the spot quite like it. It's a $60 bottle most places around here, but when I can get it for $50 I will always pick up a bottle. emr454
I enjoy EWB quite a bit. Sure, it's nothing fantastic but it's good for a few old fashioned cocktails. Do I drink it neat? Yea, but only when I don't want to think about my bourbon too much.
chooch714
OC8 and Old Crow Reserve for me. I really enjoy the taste of the OC8. I just wish it were at a higher proof.
Flyfish
You a lucky dawg! Another one I like, that gets little love, is Woodford Reserve. I don't like it enough to spend $35 for a bottle, but I'll occasionally order it in a bar or restaurant.I never order anything I don't especially like in a restaurant because they tend to charge the price of half a bottle for just a little sip. Last restaurant bourbon I had was Booker's. Was surprised they had it and didn't even ask the price. Might have been the end of the bottle because the barkeep poured me a huge portion. Fortunately, I wasn't driving.

High markup is standard for restaurants. Consider that any bottle of wine you order will cost you at least 2x retail, if not more. It's something you have to accept if you're going to eat at one.And I don't normally order bourbon in a restaurant, but in this case my wife and I were sharing a dessert which seemed to call for bourbon, rather than dessert wine or something else. So we shared a glass of the WR. The combination worked well.
Tucker
I like the HH profile and had a bottle or three of Evan Williams green label back a few years ago. Didn't mind it too bad for a bottom shelfer.Although not a bourbon, I really enjoy Mellow Corn over ice when the weather warms up. I suppose some might think that's swill-ish. flahute
The label conscious crowd don't want to be challenged with knowledge, I no longer try.^^^This! You know, it's funny how the early days of the hipster movement was known for the embrace of PBR, the simple cheap working man's beer. That same standard did not carry over to bourbon.
