bllygthrd
I had the opportunity to try one of Terressentia's products, the Hatfield and McCoy Family Brand Whiskey. The owner of the company which contracted with Terresstia to produce the product shared it with me. Surprisingly, he was very open as to how it was produced. It is 80% grain neutral spirits and 20% aged bourbon whiskey (MGD) which is passed through a deionizing column, flavored with lemon grass and vanilla ... then aged in used oak barrels for up to 10 months. Color is added prior to bottling. The taste was thin, lacking in any character and very benign. It appeared to me that they are targeting non-whiskey drinkers that want to appear to enjoy non-clear spirits. Will I pay the ~$45 for a bottle ... no. BourbonGuy
A resurrection of this old post. I was in the store and saw the bottle. It is a great bottle. It was $35. I passed. But did anyone ever taste this? It has been a few years. Maybe someone broke down and purchased a bottle.
Marekv8
I picked up a bottle last year while researching laboratory matured/mutated spirits. The pack had obviously gone through a round of cost-cutting tweaks, as the embossing work on the lower portion had been replaced by a decal and the "dog tag" necker was gone. It's been quite a while since tasting it, but from memory it was an unpleasant experience. Welcome to the future.
